Been sitting for a few months and I tried to start it. It made a slight revolution and stopped. I thought batteries were dead so I put the trickle charger on it overnight. Batteries are good now but still won’t turn over. How would I check for hydro lock? I’m guessing pull the injectors and...
I had trouble with a pair. Had a hard time getting warranty. Decided I wasn’t going to spend top dollar on batteries anymore so been buying cheapest I can. I got rural king batteries in it now so far so good. Third year on this set. Getting hard to start so I took them in on warranty. They said...
Don’t know about ats trannys but the stock trannys have bands that need adjusted. Just back off the lock nut and torque to the spec called out for that year. If you over torque them it will grab hard when shifting. For a short while lol. Nice looking rig. I’ve got a 97 4x4 dually. It’s kind of...
I haven't tried jumping it. I've been testing voltage at the passenger side because drivers side has the air intake over the positive post. I get 13.62 on the passenger side. Decided to check the drivers side. I'm only getting 12.45 here. I'm kinda scratching my head now. How can it only...
The alt is charging. And cables are clean and tight. I seemed to think the battery light comes on when key is cycled but goes back off?
It stays on for the duration of the wait to start light and then goes out with the wait to start light.
Something's definitely dragging the batteries down...
My truck has been slow to start. Batteries seem weak. The batteries are a year old. I took them to be replaced under warranty and was told they are still good. The battery light comes on when the wait to start light is on. Didn't do this when batteries were new. It goes out after truck...
That's a nice upgrade. I have a wrinkle in my front bumper and have been looking for a replacement. What year is that bumper.
Oh 08-10 I see. Looks like the frame stubs have to be cut. Dunno if I want that.
I have the same issue with my F350 with the crane in it. By the time I got the welder, compressor and tools on it was overloaded. Had to put the welder on a trailer.
A heat gun works good on my Witte MD12 diesel engine but it's a single cylinder. I bet it would help. I'd try it before I used ether. Made the mistake of using that on a Cummins once. WD40 works too. I always use that on motorcycle engines.
Biodiesel mix destroyed the o-rings in the Bosch rotary IP on my BMW 524 to. Once it started leaking it got on the timing belt and destroyed it. Fortunately I caught it before the belt broke. That stuff is hard on certain materials.
I have been driving diesels for 20 years. Had two gell ups. Once in my 1986 BMW 524td driving home at 2 am, -5 degrees, 40mph winds. Couldn't get the car to run over 15 mph. Made it 12 miles to a Pilot truck stop. Bought a bottle of hot shot and poured it in the fuel filter. Made it home...
That tilt trailer is pretty slick. I'd like to seen some plans on that or at least some detailed pics. I've got a tilt bed but it's configured a little different. I don't think it would take much to redo it like that one.
I'm not new to diesels, have had numerous Cummins. Having said that it is common in the Cummins world to cycle the heater grid twice for quicker start. Key on wait for start light goes out, key off, key back on, wait for light goes out then start.
I have no idea if that works with glow plugs...
I don't drive it much. It's a crane truck so I just use it around my place when I need to lift something. When it is being used it is idling most of the time. I have to leave it running while using the crane so the batteries don't go dead. When I bought it a few months ago it would smoke on...
I recently adjusted the tps to get the transmission shifting right and today I noticed quite a lot of white smoke even after engine had warmed up. Any connection there?
I haven't read the whole thread but thought I had mention a website with tons of Cummins swaps. It's called 4btswaps. I'm sure you must know about it but in the odd chance you don't maybe check it out. Good info there.
