Oil Cooler issues
The IDI oil cooler front header is cast iron and rigid bolted to the side of the block....FAR superior in strength opposed to the alloy neck on the PSD timing cover. In simpler terms----There are no issues with prying the bundle into the front header on the IDI ;Sweet 1 hr job at most :D- geonc

Oil Cooler issues
When you get your new seal rings, be sure to also pick up the gasket that connects the front header to the timing cover! There are just 2 bolts that connect it and in the long run----it is better to just remove the entire assy as a whole, as opposed to attempting to lever the cooler core into...- geonc

Engine carnage pictures, how do I interpret this?
:eek: cookoo I would be interested in seeing if that is truly a hole in the rear piston or just debris where the inj fires :dunno Kinda hard to do failure analysis after exposure to the elements tho .....- geonc

High pitched squeaking from belt drive...agh!
Just at idle---or mid eng speed? Only cold or all time? Vac pump,P/S pump.....How is the belt tracking on the idler pulleys? What condition is the smooth side [non-ribbed] of the belt from contact with the idlers? Got an older belt?---put it on and see if it changes/goes away......- geonc

Using the 4ga wire direct between fender relay and GP relay is the way;Sweet The reason for such a high mega fuse relates to 8 gps drawing close to 30 amps ea =240amp possible load. Those #s are for new gp's...older ones will naturally draw more so a slight fudge factor on the safe side----...- geonc

oil pan gasket
Rich, if memory serves, the rear main seal carrier has 2 ears that require the removal of the 2 rear most oil pan bolts---kinda like a small block chebby timing cover-- and there may just be the possibility that if and when the rear seal was previously replaced, the ears were either buggared or...- geonc

2000 7.3 f350 PSD broke down at work.in the front of main door.SUCKS!!!!
What line is leaking? ...one of the steel braided from HPOP to head? If so, that is definatly the culprit ...no oil/low oil to inj and no fire. re: making a line----remember, the HPOP system runs at 3500 psi and UP! Most steel braid/teflon lined hose that uses reusable fittings is...- geonc

Which impact?

New clutch is in!
Well....the new Valair clutch is in and I'm really amazed by the fact that the pedal is actually "easier" than when the SB was new or even the last LUK that went in my IDI...So much so that WW about shoved her foot thru the floor :rotflmao Had the F/W surfaced...took .0025 to klean up and not...- geonc

Another one bites the dust.....
Well....a big NEGATIVE on both considering that I have not even hooked up to a sled with the new clutch nor have I done any drag racing/heavy launches.... The biggest load behind it "was" the 16' flat trailer loaded up with our 4 wheelers for the 45 minute drive to Busco mebee a dozen times in...- geonc

I will take some dimensions with my calipers later this morning..... But, I can assure a couple things----as I stated over in the PSD thread, the input shaft bearing shows no signs of excessive play, I installed it as per SB directions including the use of Loctite sleeve loc and pressing in as...- geonc

What started you burning oil?
For me it started working for a truck leasing outfit while still in high screwel then progressed to a job offer from Detroit Diesel after attending one of their training classes while at the truck outfit.... BESIDES already being a gearhead :D Spent the better part of 15 years bending wrenches...- geonc

..South Bend clutch and Kevlar pilot bushing -cuss Got a Valair comming and the f/w is being surfaced and will pick it up after 12 pm tomorrow...hope to have her back up and running tomorrow evening---IF the clutch gets here....was supposed to be here today :dunno Still not sold on the...- geonc

ZF5 Install
Scott, when my SB clutch took a chit , I noticed the kevlar had spun....Peter from SB sent me a new clutch assy but I had to fork up for the new kevlar ---$40 worth:eek:---cleaned the f/w as directed and used bearing lock after pressing in...it spun anyway cookoo :puke: I actually have ordered...- geonc
