I feel like I have it adjusted correctly. The accessories position comes on correctly and it clicks into the on position in the right spot, just sometimes this includes the starter engaging. This leads me to think a wire is shorting. I will have to poke around and see what I can find. Maybe...
That was the first thing I did, see earlier post. It gave me accessories back, but didn't change the odd starter engagement.

I looked over all the easily visible wires to the starter itself and also the fender mounted relay. Nothing obviously causing the trouble. I have also taken it out for a good drive running some errands and here are the results.

Today I changed out the ignition switch on my truck. Now I have the accessories position working and the random starter before glow plugs issue should go away.
I can see why the old was having issues.

How much over is the oil? Do I remember that this happens when going up hill or parked nose up in a slanted driveway? Seems unlikely, but maybe excess oil is being sucked through the CDR and causing the runaway behavior/bad running.

I started out fiddling around with the transfer case as it has been jammed up. I removed the linkage and was able to shift it into 4H. Good. I cleaned up the pivot bolt greased it and put it back together. Hopefully next time I get it out of the driveway it will work.
