    Opinions? Biodiesel kit for IDI

Mel, I have been doing a lot of research on the topic over the last year. What I have found is about the same as Travis. Stay away from the already built units. Buy Girl Marks book and build an Appleseed processor. It will be less expensive and make better fuel. For a man of your abilities...

I just had to wait about 10-15 minutes and then the second one worked for me.

    Turning Up Fuel Question

Head gaskets got better on the later models, but the head bolts are still the wimpy 7/16s instead of the 1/2 bolts used on the 7.3. My head gaskets already seem to be weeping a little on the back sides of both of them. So I am trying to be careful for now. Yes, just keep a close eye on the...

    Turning Up Fuel Question

Thanks for clearing it up Travis. When I installed my turbo I only turned my pump up as much as Banks recommended. Now I am wondering if I want to go more. With a load such as a big hill I always have to back out of it to limit my boost. Until I do studs and new head gaskets I am limiting...

    Turning Up Fuel Question

So when we turn up the fuel screw on our injection pumps are we just raising the maximum amount of fuel the pump is able to deliver at full throttle or does it increase the amount of fuel delivered at all throttle positions? Tristan

    Cab Grounding?

What is the best way to make sure the cab is properly grounded? I have been having some guage wierdness lately. If I remember correctly grounding is a common cause of this. Thanks, Tristan

Results of Cooling System Pressure Test

Damn Two-Fiddy, you are good. I went out and pressurized it up again today and low and behold there was come water running down from that upper hose clamp. Thanks man! Yes AZ=Autozone... Phoenix is way too hot for this northwesterner this time of year! So noe that the water leakage is...

Results of Cooling System Pressure Test

Well I finally got to AZ and borrowed a pressure tester for the cooling system as JD suggested in this thread. I pumped it up to 15 psi and scooted underneath to see if I could find and leaks. In this image you can see come coolant dripping off of the fuel pump. Must be coming from the head...

    Looking for Banks Filter P/N

Exactly what I have been wanting to do for some time. However Hypermax wants about $200 for the intake hat... Anyone have one taking up space in their garage they need to clear out? Would anyone else make one that would fit? I seem to remember it is an odd sized opening. Is that correct?

    Looking for Banks Filter P/N

Unless someone has found a cross recently the air filter is a Banks only part. You can't get it through a normal K&N catalog unfortunately.

Need some info. Temps and such.

Sounds like a sweet truck ;Sweet IIRC, you don't want to go over 240 on the water temp. The fan clutch should lock up at 220 and cut back off at 212.

    White Smoke, Need Input

Hmm... Headgaskets are original. I will look everything over more carefully. I really was hoping it wasn't time for head gaskets, but on the plus side if that is the case I will be able to get a stud set on there and not have to limit myself on how much boost I run, right?

    White Smoke, Need Input

Thanks for the input guys. No water in the oil or oil in the water as far as I can tell. The altitude isn't high enough to make a difference, and have done the drive many times before with no smoke. She doesn't have leaks that are great enough to create that amount of smoke, but I am not...

    White Smoke, Need Input

Well we headed off with the camper and motorcycle trailer this weekend. It is about a 100 mile drive over a couple of passes to where we were headed. I was running her pretty hard, about 9 on the boost guage keeping the pyro under 1100 running up the lower hills toward Snoqualmie pass when I...

Thanks Ford, Easy access heater core

Ford did something right. Just changed out my heater core, no sweat. After all the horror stories I have heard about pulling dashes out to even get to it I was pleasently surprised. The hardest part was getting the hoses loose in the engine bay. ;Really

    INTERCOOLER setup for sale

Damn! Wish I had some extra $$$. My truck would love to have that on her. Nice job on the tubes!

So how heavy are our trucks?

Thanks everyone. I need to take mine across the scales, with and without my camper. I think I am probably a bit over the GVWR of 8800 lbs. with my camper on her. She seems to handle it okay though

Performance questions- 1992 with ATS Turbo

I don't know about ATS, but my old non-wastegated Banks will run up to 12 easy and seems like it would go higher. I try to keep it under 9-10 pounds of boost. Not quite ready to do headgaskets and studs....

Just curious, mine is an F250 extended cab 4x4 long bed. How heavy would it be?

    Dana 50 of 44 front?

Thanks Zigg. The Pre-Luber was actually installed on the truck by a PO. It wasn't hooked up to any switch or anything, so all I had to do was hook it up to a momentary push button (starter like button). This is the web site for the company that made mine: http://www.pre-luber.com/ If...

    Dana 50 of 44 front?

Dana 50 or 44 front? How do you tell the two apart? Mine doesn't seem to have the marking cast into the pumpkin and the tag doesn't say. Since my truck is a F250 HD diesel 8800 GVWR I am pretty sure mine is a 50, but I am talking to a guy who has a set of axles and we can't figure out if his...

    4.10 to 3.55 Power loss?

It would be a complete axle swap, not just the gears. So I don't think I could screw anything up. I have a C6 auto, so no overdrive. I am running 28575R16 tires, so they are just about 33" tall. You are correct, slowing the motor down at cruise speeds is the main goal, improving fuel...

    4.10 to 3.55 Power loss?

According to the tag on the camper it weighs about 2300 pounds. Often I also have a trailer on the back for the motorcycles that would add some more. It is light, I can move it around by had easily. Often I am driving empty to work and back or with just my dirt bike in the loaded. That is...
