Thank You!! No we have not checked that. We will check that this weekend.
A new piece of the puzzel. I drove the truck for the first time since we last worked on it. Using the front tank. There is still fuel leaking from the top of the rear tank. We have replaced the fuel lines and triple...
Hey Mel, King of the Diesel Gods :hail :hail
Thanks for the tips! Yea I guess it is time for the Holley Red. That would be a great help in finding if it is sucking air somewhere. Exekiel has a Holly Red on his truck. He can most likely advise me of the where and how to get one.
What...
Ezekiel,
It is actually a vacumn pump with a attached container typically used for bleeding brakes etc. I do have one and will bring it out to Marriottsville next time we get a chance to work on the blue beast.
Thanks again for all the help!!!
Charlie
This may be dumn questions, please bear with me.
Do the fancy factory fuel line connectors have anything to do with the system being self bleeding? Exekiel said they appeared to have orings inside, I was wondering if they allowed trapped air to escape. I know, crazy idea but can't figure out...
Exekiel,
Thank you for all the help you have been to me on many projects.
Thanks to all for there reply's. We are a bit stumped on this one.
Hmnn, the idea of finding a long road and holding it to the floor sounds interesting.
If it is self bleeding maybe we can just try to keep it...
Exekiel installed new injectors and lines for me yesterday.
Now my truck runs smoother, quieter. Has more mower. Less injector knock when starting cold. Huge improvement. I am expecting my milage might return to what it used to be. There was a fair amount of leaking going on.
Exekiel claims...
EZ,
Great news on the cooling. What the heck are you pulling? That is quite a bit more than when I am pulling my tri-axel with the Excavator on board.
Charlie
Hey EZ,
Correct me if I am wrong. But didn't your engine problems predate you installing the Turbo? Are they saying the Turbo is causing the tick/miss?
Doesn't seem to add up to me. Seems like they should have done the compression test while they were in there.
Charlie
Hey EZ,
I have a compression tester. 0>300 psi. Looks like it has a few different size adapters. Probably standard spark plug sizes. I have no idea what the threads are on a glow plug hole. The Master Mel :hail may know. The only thing I have used it for is motorcycle engines. I don't know...
EZ, Having had the pleasure of riding in your truck. The brakes seemed up to par. I have had everthing replaced on my brakes and it still feels like the brakes are not all that great. I think it is the nature of the beast. I have had to make a few panic stops and it did stop in time. There is...
Hmnn,
Seems like all I have been doing lately is chasing oil leaks. But that has been on my 25 year old 2 wheel animals. Seems like the master :hail :hail who worked on my truck at Moose Valley. Must know what he is doing.
Charlie
OK,
To give credit where credit is due.....
Kenny :hail :hail is the one who showed me that there was a little adjusting knob on my brake controller. Hmnn, I had been pulling trailers for the past 36 years and failed to figure that out on my own.
Of course I still have the old style...
EZ and Charlies Temp comparison
Well,
EZ came by and we took some temps with the Heat Gun.
It turned out to be difficult to get a apples to apples comparison.
I towed my exacvator in the morning. But my truck had cooled down. I let it idle for 1/2 hr. with the AC on but could not get it up...
EZ,
I will shoot you a email with location. I am on my way now to check the site to make sure it is not underwater. If it is to wet to work. We can meet at my property where we dropped off the camper. I will be in touch.
Charlie
Good point Mel,
I advised EZ of same before he put on Mods. I just got off the horn with KennyD. I am heading to Westminster now to pick up heat gun.
Darrin, thank you for the clarafication!
Charlie
Ok,
Some one clear this up for me. The fan when Idling or at Normal Operating temps will turn inline with the engine RPM. Upon reaching a certain high tempature. The fan clutch will engage and increase the speed of the fan relative to the RPM. When temps come back down the fan clutch will...
Hmnn,
I am certainly no expert. But I would think you should be seeing sideways flow. I am anxious to compare. EZ, do you have a thermometer we can use?
One can never have to much information.
Hey Kenny ;Sweet
Good to hear from you! We had a great IDI rally. Except for some nut case :idiot: :idiot: :idiot: that rode his bike to the antique truck museam.
Sorry guys :sorry: :sorry: :sorry: that was a serious brain fart on my part.
Now about that heat gun.
Very nice of...
Hey Darin,
As we are running out of posibilites. That is a good find. We will try to compare flow rate and temp between EZ and my truck under the same conditions. I hate to see EZ having to continually pour money into this problem, without a solution.
