Lost turn signals and fan motor at the same time........

Not the ideal way to start the morning..... I've somehow managed to lose both HVAC control (the fan won't kick on) and the turn signals at the same time. No setting on the HVAC works and the turn signals do nothing. Hazards still work, though. I checked Fuse #1 (15amp, stop/hazard lamp) and...

    bolt pattern

True, most aftermarket wheels will have a large enough hub clearance to accomodate as wide a range of vehicles as possible. That being said, making sure to use appropriate adapters in these instances is a good idea. Good article on this stuff...

    bolt pattern

I'm pretty sure the bolt pattern is correct, but the hub diameter is too small. Mike

    Aftermarket gauges

Coolant temp would be top of my list. I watch it and the Pyro more than anything else. I have oil and boost, but I barely watch those. Mike

this tool to remove the fan clutch?

Just remember, if you use this type, you also need some tool by which to keep the fan from turning at the same time. I rent both tools from the local auto parts place. Mike

LED backup lite vs. incandescent bulb comparo.

I just put a set on my truck a couple of months ago. They're great. Got mine on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HE7SJ7S/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I also put one in the bed light. Now that light actually lights up the entire bed with enough light to be usable...

    Draining coolant

Just got done installing a new water pump last weekend, so I feel your pain. I LOATHE any job involving coolant. Sticky, watery, gets everywhere, just a royal PITA. Of course, I've had to do just about every coolant-related job on this truck (hoses, radiator, thermostat, and now water pump), but...

    coolant suplier

FWIW, not all stores carry it. The reason it's in the back is because it's mostly sold through the commercial side to shops, so if the store doesn't have a commercial counter, they may not stock it at all. Heck, I used to work at Kragen (now O reillys) through high school and college...

That's weird. I just bought one from a Ford dealer online maybe 6 months ago. Try another dealer, or search online. Mike

So just how much does a turbo help? Pics too!

No, I know. Wasn't so much an accusation as an observation. All tongue-in-cheek, really. Unfortunate name.......... Mike

    Over heating problems

I definitely echo the sentiment to install an aftermarket gauge. That being said, the thermostat is always a likely culprit when it comes incorrect operating temps, or at least part of the equation. Remember to stick with a OEM unit. Mike

So just how much does a turbo help? Pics too!

Honestly, if I was stuck behind you for miles on end at 2nd gear speeds AND you passed a turnout, I might have some choice words as well. I've never driven a N/A IDI, but given the pics of your load, I'd have to say the turbo makes a huge difference. Our trucks are spec'd similarly (7.3, 2WD...

Turned up the Fuel and time it, I should a done this earlier!

I hoard cheap tools that come with all the furniture and whatnot we buy. The wrench from my 'good' set wouldn't reach, but I had a cheap one that is just a tiny bit longer. It worked, but just barely. Mike

    Radiator Questions

Re: the fan clutch.....My experience is that they don't kick in until you're darn hot, temps which you shouldn't see unless you're towing/hauling a load up a grade. I have an Autometer digital gauge with the sensor installed in the 'OVERTEMP' sensor port (in the head), and I've seen temps into...

A little more power cheap or easy?

Technically, Banks literature says the max is 1000 degrees, 1050 max. That assumes the pyrometer is in the location the Banks kit intends it to be. Mike

    temp issues

Yeah, I would say thermostat would be a place to start. Mine idled at 205 before I replaced the thermostat, but now it's more like 195. Mike

    window motor repair how to

Rockauto.com has the motor and regulator assembly for $67, or the motor itself for mid-30s. Amazon is even cheaper. I find the easiest way to get at the motor is to take out the regulator, then unbolt the motor from it. As for getting the rivets out, a good smack with a hammer will often...

What signs to look for to determine actual miles?

Depending on how the DMV works in the state(s) the vehicle resided in, a carfax report may tell a lot. My truck came from Oregon, where it's my understanding they require periodic vehicle inspections and record the mileage. I bought mine with about 70K miles on it, and aside from the interior...
