    Keyless entry?

I used different ones, for no good reason really. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006QH9C5A/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XYHRLS4/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A how-to that I wrote, posted on the 'other' site...

    Keyless entry?

I have systems in both my 91 F250 and my 93 Suburban. Nothing fancy. Maybe $20 on Amazon and the instructions were a joke, but they work just fine. I hid the units in behind the kick panel. Mike

    Fan Clutch

I have a Champion 4-row, a new Motorcraft clutch, and a Motorcraft thermostat. Mine will run 195-200 all day long (probe in the overtemp port) unless I'm running it hard, like romping it up a hill. It's been 90+ degrees here for at least a month. With the AC off, I don't ever hear the clutch...

Water pump preference - Int'l, motorcraft, other?

I had a Motorcraft fail in about a year. I installed an ACDelco (heresy, I know) about a year and a half ago. No complaints. Mike

    High Temp Reading

Most will tell you to only run the Motorcraft thermostat, which is 195. Supposedly anything else can have flow issues. And most will tell you that the stock gauge is worthless, though I know on mine that if it's anywhere near midway, I'm getting HOT. That's the benefit of having an aftermarket...

    Looking at a truck. Opinions?

Seeing how it's running a Facet pump and he makes the point of specifying that they're Motorcraft plugs, I'd be surprised if the owner isn't a member either here or at FTE. Seems like a great deal if it isn't rotten. Mike

    Alternator issue...

If you need a dual v-belt, this is the PN for one that comes with the pulley and is clocked correctly. 7756-3N-2G All you need is a new upper mounting bolt and washer, plus the usual 3G wiring stuff. Mike

    Replacing water pump

All good tips. Getting the right bolts in the right spots is critical, so pay attention there. Use thread sealant on the ones listed in the tech article. Make sure to clean up the surface real well (a razor blade works well). Paint the pump to prevent rust. I used the RTV specifically meant for...

    7.3 fuel filter head

Mine's leaking at the heater element (not o ring). Looking to pick up a spare in case I goober the DIY trick of plugging with a NPT thread. Mike

    Serpentine swap...yay or nay?

3g with v belt is no big whoop. I'm running it on mine with no issues. I used to think v-belt was too Old School, but I just picked up a 1993 Suburban, and it's non-stop comedy trying to get everything quiet. Got it mostly sorted, but only after a new PS pump, new alternator, new idler, new...

    RADIATOR QUALITY

So, I actually had both. I started with the 3, then upgraded when they came out with the 4. Overall dimensions are the same. The widest part are the tanks, and they're the same for both. The core, though, IS wider on the 4-row, which does close the gap between the fan clutch and the core. No...

    RADIATOR QUALITY

American Eagle = Champion. It's the name for their 2-row. Link: http://www.championradiators.com/American-Eagle-Ford-F-series-diesel-radiator-shroud-1983-1994 Aside from the American Eagle, Champion makes a 3-row and 4-row for our trucks, assuming you have the tall/narrow radiator. Link...

Best way to find an IDI to buy?

Generally i would say CL, but I actually found mine on eBay. It was local, so I met the guy and gave him a number. He initally said no but changed his tune after the eBay ad went nowhere. Mike

    Good 2WD Front Tires

I've been running Cooper Discoverer tires on mine for a while. Pick your tread, but I've had no issues other than shorter life due to lack of rotation/alignment on my end (ended up getting only about 40K miles on my first set). Discount always has them pretty cheap, although i got the last set...

    Radiators

On the Champion, fit and finish is 'meh' and their packaging lends itself to shipping damage. That being said, I've been running a 4 row for years with no issues and a 3 row before that. I only upgraded for peace of mind. With the sensor in the overtemp port, I typically see temps right at 195...

Trying to replace thermostat, cant find replacement rubber seal

IIRC, my original had it but the replacement Motorcraft didn't. But when i dropped it in, fit was fine. I THINK they redesigned it to have the metal flange diameter be big enough to not need the gasket/o-ring. Mike

    Water pump bolt sizes?

My method.... Lay new pump on the floor. 1 for 1, remove a bolt from the engine and "install" it in the new pump. Once the old one is out, transfer bolts to old pump, then install new pump. Simple enough. Mike
