    wing window enlightment

Were you in the same ZIP code?.... ;Poke On the '80-'86 trucks, the division bar and vent frame/seal are separate parts. Looks like on the '87-'91 trucks, the frame, seal and division bar are combined. Dunno if the door structure itself is the same; maybe they're interchangeable...

    1000w Remote plug switch

I would think you could tuck the main body of it behind the grille, so only the plug sticks out; that way it would just look like a stock block heater plug and wouldn't be a theft target.

Rectangle to Round harness connector conversion??

I would think an EVTM from the two relevant years, and some bathroom studying of the connector face diagrams in each one, would provide the answers.

Scan results from my 95 PSD with Scantool OBDLink LX and your opinions

The OP's is connecting then disconnecting immediately. That's most likely the PCM connection, NOT the phone connection. Depends on how reliable the device and the phone are.

Scan results from my 95 PSD with Scantool OBDLink LX and your opinions

If it connects at all, it's very likely flashed. By any chance did you have a door open when you were trying it? Try it with both/all doors closed, and the dome / map lights off.

Experience with Insurance co total and buyback?

Leave it to the People's Republic to put that kind of power in the hands of the insurance companies. Out here in the real world, the title is a physical document that represents ownership, and only the holder(s) of the physical title can change its status. Since my vehicles (and my wife's) are...

    Your educated opinions please

Bits of glow plug tip breaking off, tossing around in the chamber several times before being pulverized or sent out the exhaust valve, maybe? :dunno Wonder what the domes in the cylinder heads look like, if they have similar divots.

Experience with Insurance co total and buyback?

I've done this twice, once in WI and once in MI. In both cases, the title never even came out of the drawer. I simply received a check for the blue book value of the vehicle, minus the scrap value. Of course, it varies from state to state, but "total" to an insurance company means something...

    Old school tunes

First thing I thought when I read the title of this thread was - "waitaminit, there are no 'tunes' for an IDI; it's mechanically-injected...." Options: - Stock AM/FM Cassette, with a 3mm-jack-to-cassette adapter. Allows you to play those old tapes, and plug in an MP3 player of whatever ilk...

No start; GP + GPC issue?

It's a 1986 truck. Unless it has been modified, it has the first-generation controller. To the OP - the photo you posted is of the starter relay. The GP relay should be on the horizontal surface of the inner fender well on the passenger side. It will look similar.

    Block heater cord

You need a different girlfriend, or she needs a different extension cord. The longer it is, the heavier it needs to be. If hers is 100 ft and only 14 ga, it may not be up to the task. Or the socket end of her cord may just be bad.

the worst engineering part of your Ford?

^^^^^ This is why I sometimes throw 'er in 4LO to back into the driveway, just so I can creep it. Gotta be careful, though; geared that low, the torque is unstoppable; feels like a tractor. You could back up over a Mini and it would feel like a rolled-up pair of socks under there.....

the worst engineering part of your Ford?

Oh yeah, forgot about the stoopid SuperCab foam and the IDM rain garden.... (SuperCab/rust note - check the nuts that hold the rear quarter windows. Only 22 INCH-lb torque, no loctite from the factory, they go finger-loose and let water in. Check, retorque with loctite [option - nylock...

the worst engineering part of your Ford?

Tie between: * steering rag joint * vacuum HVAC / brakes requiring vac pump * Headlight switch/wiring * Clutch pushrod bushing * (OBS) odometer that's six digits, but still turns over at 399,999

    No brake lights

The brake pedal switch is "upstream" of the turn signal / hazard switch. The circuit gets split up in the turn/hazard switch. The contacts and circuits in the switch are downright byzantine in complexity; it has contacts that are closed when the switch is in the off position, to pass the brake...

    Firewall reinforcement plate question

Hmm, I wonder if those wallered-out holes are that way in order to accomodate a '92-up-style pre-bled master-slave kit. I know the bolt/stud spacing is different; I had to make similar, er, accomodations to adapt an OBS-era master-slave kit to my '85.

94 7.3 this my sounds stupid

The IDI is OBD-nothing. There's no connection between the engine and any computer. None of the above have sensors in the IDI engine. As said in post #2, to use any selectable display, you'd have to use your own sensors and connect them to a stand-alone processor. Recently someone started a...

    New to me 96 powerstroke

I remember reading about a guy who had problems with Dormans, but only when he tightened down the valve cover. Seems that when he torqued it down, something would short out. Soon as he removed the valve cover again to troubleshoot it, it would work fine. Drove him crazy 'til he stumbled on the...
