    ALERT : '78 Bronco with '84 6.9 @ 100k Edgecomb, ME : low ask!

Are the 5-bolt hubs/rims stout enough for an IDI? (....at whatever temperature?....)

    ALERT : '78 Bronco with '84 6.9 @ 100k Edgecomb, ME : low ask!

What did he do with the suspension, to account for an engine that's heavier than was ever intended to put in (essentially) a half-ton truck?

Zf5 shift towers and misc parts

Is that a ZF5 boot I see? Is the white under-boot in good shape? I'd rock that dash cover, but I suspect it'd be $$$$$'y to ship.

Good to hear. If you're gonna spend the $$$ on Amsoil, you might as well go for the 5W-40; it'll make for less grumpy cold starts.

    Help please charging system!!!!

Um, NO. Current goes through BOTH paths. Current is the SUM of the current draw of the two resistances. Resistance is, well, the inverse.

    No cold start OBS 7.3

The current load of the GPs brings down the voltage some. 11V is not that low. They key is - check the voltage on each big terminal WHILE the GPs are running. If the DIFFERENCE between them is more than 0.3V, the relay needs replaced.

    Cooling System Conundrum

Upload 'em to your account gallery here on OBN and then link it to the post. Then it's all "in the family", not dependent on some other hosting site that may change their rules in the future (when would that ever happen?....).

    That's it.

    No cold start OBS 7.3

S and I terminals refer to a starter relay, specifically for a gasser. The Stancor and Western Plow relays (and any generic GP relay, for that matter) consists simply of two circuits, the coil circuit which is the two small terminals, and the contact circuit which is the two large terminals...

WANTED: Lund cold front inserts (grille inserts)

Our first OBS PSD came with a set of Lund Cold Front inserts. We've used them every winter with no cooling issues. Good luck finding a set, however. In the past eight or so years, I think I've seen ONE set up for sale on the classifieds of the various forum sites. These are like crew cab front...

    Cooling System Conundrum

No valves? All I can think of is that they started down the path of doing a bypass, but never finished the project.

    Start Issue???

If your truck doesn't start in neutral, it's a death trap. It would be extremely dangerous not to be able to restart a moving vehicle that has stalled while it's still moving. If you heard a click when you turned the key to START, the ignition switch is _probably_ good. The relay is the most...

    Start Issue???

Automatic or manual transmission? Next test - rather than jumping the two big terminals on the starter relay, jump a wire from the battery + to the SMALL terminal on the relay. TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL/PARK!!! If the starter cranks, relay is good. If just a click, or nothing, relay is bad. And...

No Wait to Start Lite, GPR Test & GP Ohm Test

You need to measure voltage at each GP relay large terminal with key ON. The drop in voltage you see could indicate weak batteries or bad connections, not just a bad relay. If difference between voltages of the two terminals WITH KEY ON is more than 0.3 V, THEN you know GPR is bad. It's...

Best way to find an IDI to buy?

^^^^^^ Ground clearance and the right winter tires can mean more than FWD. There's a LOT of on-street parking on our street, and after a six-incher or more, and then they come by with the plow, these local millennial-mobiles are incapacitated. As for being front-heavy, that's also why there's a...

They don't wait until single digits to be tested. You check winter-necessary systems the same way you check your furnace -- BEFORE you need them the first time.

    94 IDIT 4X EX CAB E4OD

Also keep in mind that 3xx,xxx on the odometer could really be 4xx,xxx , 5xx,xxx , etc. I would hope that by this many kms, the E4OD's been rebuilt at least once. Saturn S-Series are incredibly repairable, and tougher than any fold-up contemporary in its class. My '96 SW2 was "totalled" in '06...

Fuel Filter light - what does is measure?

You would use that key-switched power as the trigger to a RELAY for the pump, which is how you should do it no matter what you use.

Best way to find an IDI to buy?

So whatever happened with the insurance on the deer-hunter-mobile? Dunno about Indiana, but here in WI, and in MI, if the insurance "totals" your car, that's only an economic thing. It only means the dollar damage is more than what they consider the vehicle worth. Typically you can "buy" the car...

    Bad idea?

Yeah, easily worth $1000. A good-running, not-clapped-out, manual 4x4 IDI is a $2000 truck any day of the week. So is the plan still to meet halfway? This one's the old-school controller, so I'd go manual. Have him either jump the relay, or plug in the block heater for a couple hours, see if it...

    Fuel Sender Floats

Running the tank dry is one thing. Running it dry and allowing the engine to stall, and having to crank to restart it is another. That's something I wouldn't do.

    Fuel Sender Floats

How does running out of fuel cost so much money? I've run ours out intentionally, three times (in preparation to drop the tank); I just switched tanks at the moment I sensed a hesitation, the truck slowed down quite a bit, but caught within about 10 seconds.
