1995 7.3 PSD, manual glow plug mod

There is no coolant temp sensor input. There's no "algorithm", and there's nothing wrong wrt. it; the number reported is simply meaningless. This book - http://www.forddoctorsdts.com/download-2.php?f=949873DITDirectInjectionTurbochargedDiesel.pdf - pages 24-33 describes the sensors and...

    Couple things

Taillights / parking lights work? Did you check the dash dimmer on the headlight switch? ACC position is one click counter-clockwise turn of the key. See owner's manual. Headlight switch and its connector are both weak points in all generations. Usually it's the headlights themselves that...

    No Power To FSS?

What is the voltage at the FSS connector when the key is in the RUN position?

    No Power To FSS?

So you have power at the FSS connector when the key is in RUN, but when you connect it to the FSS, it doesn't click?

    No Power To FSS?

Just to confirm, does the FSS click when you connect its regular power feed wire (not the jumper) to it? If so, and if you've physically got fuel going into the IP but not coming out of it, that def. puts the focus on the IP.

Truck died and will not restart

Did you test the fuel shutoff solenoid?
  9. M

    cranks but wont start

Yes, it's fuse #22, and yes, disconnect the fuel filter heater FIRST. But if the CE light is on, that suggests there IS power to the PCM. Def. remove any chip/programmer, and check main PCM harness connection.

    No Power To FSS?

^^^^ +1; it isn't an "FSS issue". It's a "POWER to the FSS issue".

    No Power To FSS?

What else have you tested? * Wipers * Turn signals * HVAC blower * reverse lights Did you check ALL fuses?

    Timing problems

You'd still have a 3G alternator with an electronic voltage regulator. Then there's the VSS/PSOM, but of course the truck (except for the E4OD) would run without it. Better tranny swap choice would be a ZF5. To go fully mechanical, you'd have to get a 1G alternator and mechanical regulator...

    Batteries drained...

Disconnect both battery negatives and close both/all doors. Connect an ammeter between one of the battery negative cable terminals and the corresponding post on the battery. Start pulling fuses until the meter reads zero. That's where to trace the source of your load.

Looking at a 90 F250 7.3 IDI, have 2 hours to make decision, please help!

I see a potential "reliable diesel mechanic" riding a quarterhorse somewhere in this thread.... Seriously, yeah, you will probably want to farm out a lot of this. But there's a fair amount you should consider doing yourself. If you can do spark plugs in a gasser, you can do glow plugs in this...

Well he did say "large" filter.... (And yes, it esp. seems like that much when you pay for the oil.....)

    Front Tank Volume

The 21-gallon tank that went in SOME automatic transmission trucks was plastic. A steel tank SHOULD be 19 gallons. But indeed, it could be a replacement.

PIC HEAVY: IDI Swapping a Bronco or F-Series (And auto to standard info)

I'm curious what was wrong with the donor truck? From the one pic, it looks like a fairly clean two-tone extended cab 4x4 slantnose. Those are rare as hen's teeth around here.

Looking at a 90 F250 7.3 IDI, have 2 hours to make decision, please help!

^^^^ That's ($70k) almost as much as we borrowed for our HOUSE. Look again REAL close for rust. The chrome-y stuff on the bottom, plus the absence of a 4x4 sticker, suggests the truck has had some cosmetic work done. Check the core support, spring hangers, shock perches, etc. Price seems a...

    steering column broken please help

Option - get a whole non-tilt column from a junkyard truck (or one of the junkyards that advertise on eBay). Might ultimately be less work, and you won't have it to worry about anymore. NB - you might consider steps, running boards, or even those grab handles, either on the exterior B-pillar...
