RABS or Vacuum Pump or Both?

Pull the line from the vacuum pump and check there. You want to narrow down whether it's the pump or a vac line. There's also a distribution box (aka vacuum manifold) where the vacuum splits from the pump to the HVAC and the sensor.

RABS or Vacuum Pump or Both?

The primary purpose of the brake failure warning light on the dash is to warn you of hydraulic brake failure (i.e. no brakes, slam into a busload of nuns and schoolkids...). It also comes on when you apply the parking brake and when there is insufficient vacuum. So your combination of conditions...

Looking at an 7.3 IDI, need some opinions...

Manual 4x4s are always in high demand, F350s, so it has the potential to be a good deal. That said, I wouldn't pay that much for a non-running truck, unless I knew what it would take to get it running.

    Glow plug relay question

There's no fuse that energizes the coil circuit / controller? That goes through the ignition switch. It's not fused somewhere?

    Time to check fuses again.

    SD style fuel filler vent

Not a lot of fire hose lying around here... (good idea, though, for those who have it) BTW, is that a kink in the clear line coming off the bed side?

    Glow plug relay question

If the glow plugs are on, the relay must be closing. Maybe you just don't hear it the first time.

New glo plugs, started fine for a week, now won't fire.

A Ford starter RELAY (the solenoid is part of the starter) will NOT suffice to run the glow plugs. The glow plugs take a LOT more current, and may run for longer on-time, than the starter. Get a Stancor 586-902 or Western Plow 56131K; they're rated for continuous on-time duty and plenty of...

Any parts I should keep from scrap truck

Just about anything in the interior that's good. Those doors & fenders look better than most of what you see up here. People are frequently asking about those big tow mirrors. Grille, headlight doors, etc. If you're literally only using the transmission, everything else related to it (pedals...

    SD style fuel filler vent

How'd you get the tank to stick to your ceiling like that..... ;) I've sealed pinholes in filler necks with PC-7 (binary/epoxy). So far so good.... As for between metal and metal, like under the tank straps, I usu. use old bike innertube rubber (God knows I have enough of it....).

In need of new back glass

The back glass is WAAAY easier than the windshield. Just takes two people. It's the same glass going all the way back to 1973, so should be very easy to find. We replaced our two sliders with solids, and paid something like $25 for each one. Just get a new seal, $40-ish at Dennis Carpenter, et al.

    Dead batteries again

I'm pretty sure everything external on all batteries is lead-free these days. Even the terminals are lead-free. Gold? At the prices mentioned, the battery should be filled with gold. I can get 875 CCA 84-month group 65s made by Deka for $100 a pop any day of the week.

    OBS intake Y questions

By golly, mine appear to be about the right size. Gotta keep that in mind; we usu. keep a couple on the shifters in case we lose one on the road. Little dreads of hair on a used one would cause a leak, however.....

    Hard Start When Hot

IIRC, the IP hot failure acid test is to be at the ready when it happens, and douse the IP with COOL (room temperature, NOT COLD) water. If that helps it start, that indicates the IP.

    Seeking taller final gear ratio

So 235/85s aren't stock for a one-ton van? Sorry, my bad; had my base facts wrong. One "compromise" size that might fit is 215/85; IIRC that's the stock size for the dually pickups.

    Stupid questions.

They claim anti-cavitation, but have ZERO information about testing it, initially or in service down the road. Doesn't pass my sniff test.

    Seeking taller final gear ratio

A 265/75 will have ZERO impact. It's actually aprx. 0.1" SMALLER than a 235/85. The OP wants to lower the RPMs going down the road; he's not looking at the tires while driving (I hope not, anyway....).

    Redneckified tow mirrors

Not Not that I'd know about that ^^^^ in particular.... , but we have swing-away mirrors on two of our trucks, an no vibration issues.

Best deal on FleetCharge - find a nearby Advance Auto that carries it (or arrange for a store-to-store transfer), then order it online for in-store pickup. Look up retailmenot.com for a discount code, there's usu. a 30% or 40% discount code available. Takes it down to aprx. $12/gallon, which is...
