    6.9 intake valve question

Yes indeed. Will be getting on that asap

    6.9 intake valve question

Had an 85 6.9 develop a sudden and consistent, rpm dependent intake "chuff". The same chuffing that's usually related to a sticking lifter or a bad guide. Since it was consistent and didn't go away like a sticking lifter chuff often does, I figured that it would likely be a broken rocker or...

    Walbro electric pumps?

So far the FRB22 is doing better. I will be installing a regulator however to regulate down to 5 psi.

    Fuel pressure regulator suggestions.

What are the current recommendations for a decent fuel pressure regulator? Currently running a couple e-pumps that are delivering 6-9psi. Would like to regulate down to 6 max. I don't need a gauge or anything on the reg as I already run pressure gauges in the cabs, just looking for a...

And one thing with burning gear oil, the exhaust stinks

    Custom 60G glow plugs

Yeah the bullet connector Bosch (whatever the part number is) for the 7.3's have not lasted too long for me. I have never installed any new, but have purchased trucks that have recently had them installed. Didn't take long for them to burn out. None were swollen or anything tho

    Custom 60G glow plugs

Tested an 80034 today and a ZD-1. Both new. Both on the same battery with the same charger on it. The 80034 was still glowing strong after 18min. That's when I stopped. Will give it another several long glows over the next days The ZD-1, hooked to the same battery (although a 6v plug, as...

    How much boost?

All of it But if it were me. I would stay under 15psi and have an engine that will last a long time

    Walbro electric pumps?

Recently found out that the FRB-13 does not do well with WMO/diesel blend. It still clicks and cycles as it normally does, but doesn't move much fuel at all or build near enough fuel psi. I have had 100% good reliability with it otherwise however, on straight diesel. I am now going to try a...

    Walbro FRB-13-2 6-8 psi 43 gph

So after a year of running the FRB-13 on an idi. I have had ZERO issues with it. I have it mounted on the frame rail with a spin on racor filter upstream and a pressure gauge in the engine compartment ahead of the factory fuel filter. It spends more time around 3-4 psi rather then 6-8 like...

    Gear oil as fuel

Yeah. I would thin it out big time, 5% or something with 95 % diesel. And burn it over a longer period.

    WVO designs raw power fuge

Yes, the particulate being removed is black as sin, and ever so fine. I did run a second pass on a batch, at no higher flow rate but higher rpm and heat, and it removed next to nothing during that pass. So that tells me that either it's getting most of it out during the first pass at the...

    WVO designs raw power fuge

Is anyone getting the "black" out of the pitch black colored diesel oil? ..with a fuge or otherwise

    WVO designs raw power fuge

Finally got the new fuge assembled and in operation. Assembly was fairly straight forward. Not quite as easy as I was lead to believe though. It does have the added, bolt on heater option which I can already tell is a must for colder climates. I have only put about 30 gal thru the fuge so...

    Lazy lifter & partial miss

It's not uncommon to have some sticking lifters as these engines are aging. Especially with neglected oil maintenance/changes. I see more sticking lifters then any other issue with idi's aside from return lines leaking, worn injection pumps and glow plug issues. They will often clear up with...

Electric pump only to prime system...

I am an E fuel guy. I won't get into why in this thread But if I were to run both E and mech lift pumps for priming or as a backup, I would install manual ball valves on either side of the E pump and short bypass around it so I can manually bypass the E pump when the mech pump is running so...

Engine knocking for came and went away in a minute

Also a sticking lifter can do this. they will hold a valve open a little bit and it will sound like a knock. Lifter noises like that often come and go. USUALY after start up however.

    aux tank

I would say from the bottom. Which should present that much less stress on lift pumps.

    Custom 60G glow plugs

Lost another set of ZD-1's today. This set was on manual control, 12v. They lasted about 5 months, 1 start per day. 7 seconds on, 4 off and another 4 seconds on. My oldest set of zd1's are also on manual control, exactly the same way, they have about 150k on them and 10 years. still...

Which antifreeze? Changing to Aluminum radiator

All the above suggestions are good. You will find that there are lots of options really, many of which do the trick just fine. I run Prestone Purple HD command in ALL my various diesel. And that's just my preference and available brand. It does just fine.

    Walbro electric pumps?

I believe a stock super duty pump runs a bit higher psi then that. How about running 2? A low pressure high volume one to feed a higher pressure pump to feed the engine? I know we like to keep things simple but when it comes to running thicker fuel, it's sure hard to find pumps that stand up...
