Yup I have given up on the mech pump years ago now. I, like many of us; am a fan of all mechanical but the quality and lack of other manufacture options for the mech lift pumps forced to me electric. Which I have now figured out a system that works great for me and is reliable.
That being...
I don't have a source for that, but it is the consensus on them. Some manufactures of filters who have detailed installation instructions, also state that the primary/water separator filter must be installed on the suction side
excess carbon build up on the plugs themselves, can reduce there life. They don't seem to last as long with carbon built up on them. There always will be a bit more carbon when running alternative fuels, so that is the correlation. The life span difference can be mute it some cases, and in...
Yup just run an oil that is spec'd correctly for Ford Powerstroke, which isn't difficult to find; and keep it changed within recommended change intervals. I'd actually strongly suggest staying away from adding any oil additive. These things are just too fussy to screw around with potentially a...
Yup it's a joke. Many brands of electric have gone the same route. Most notably the Carter 4070. I have quite a bit of posting on the subject. As time goes on, I feel it's important to continue to share failure results of different brands/styles of pumps...as it can save others from being...
I have switched to E pumps about a decade ago, have gone thru several models and have come to a final setup which seems to work, I won't get into it here.
If anyone out there has an inclination to make a worthy custom part; I think a custom/quality/upgraded etc mech fuel lift pump would be...
The idi design in general is also better at burning a fuel that was injected from a worn/poor spray pattern injector. It takes a pretty bad spray pattern to create a hazy idle in an idi, compared to say a powerstroke which will smoke and stink to high heaven even with slightly worn injectors...
Ya just leave it alone if its not leaking, in my opinion.
What I am starting to see more and more of, is the steering shaft input seal leaking on the steering box.
Ya I have torn a couple down. I always check/replace/clean/re-route the CDR first. I have never actually remedied a consumption issues with any CDR valve work.
Usually see a broken ring or a few, melted ring lands from excessive EGT. The rings probably break from excess starting fluid use...
The carter 4070 was a great, reliable "go to" universal pump for decades. No longer. The quality has taken such a turn for the worse, it's shocking. I have quite the fleet of equipment, and I now have 8 dead 4070's sitting in a pile that failed after minimal hours of operation. A few old...
Always good to check up on latest quality control topics as everything changes for the worse as time goes on, it seems.
I'd say that they are. In my opinion, don't even try anything else. There have been some issues with motorcraft plugs that I have had in idi's and there are a select few...
I might try plugging the module plugs into another module, without moving on the brake lines over to see what that does, to avoid the bleed process if it's not necessary.
1999 F550 4x4.
So im getting an ABS light on (I couldn't care less about ABS but for inspection purposes the light has to cycle within spec/not be on) and a code C1145. Both front wheel sensors along with the hub assemblies have been replaced, no change. I replaced the plug on the harness...
Ya the coking that develops on the injector tips will quickly make a psd smoke pretty bad at an idle. I second the starting and stoping on diesel with the psd more so then idi diesels. They do fine otherwise tho. Gotta be clean oil tho.
