Its been several years since I have installed a fuel pressure gauge on anything. Whats the latest "go to" for quality fuel pressure gauges? I have 3 idi's that have had an electric lift pump mod over the past little while and would like to finalize each truck with a gauge and dash/pillar pod...
I run Stanadyne lubricity formula in almost every tank. Especially rotary pumped diesels. I don't notice any difference and don't even care to try a performance formula, I'm strictly after lubricity.
Selling a 2001 4R100 2wd transmission and torque converter. 213km, was mated to a 7.3 powerstroke. 100% stock. Shifted good. Fluid is clean.
Asking $400 for the trans and TC combo.
Located near Nelson BC, Canada.
Yeah I would install an electric pump on the frame rail near the tank, and push thru whatever filter setup that you install. Shouldn't overwork a pump. Just don't use a Mr gasket pump or whatever "el cheapo" pump is on the bargain bin shelf at the parts store
I have a couple Racor 220's in...
Noticed tonight in the dark, that the brake lights are on very dimly when the key is in the ON position. They work properly when the pedal is depressed, but I now realize that they have been very dimly lit with the key ON. I'm betting that this is effecting the TC lock up issues. Will look...
Yeah adjusted it lower but to no avail. TC still not locking as it should. Might be time for a manual lock up mod. I like the mod but the truck will be driven by a few different people so I'm hesitant to have the mod done on this truck
Ok good tip. So in theory, a lower V setting on the FIPL should cause the TC to lock earlier? I will try lowering it a bit and test drive. I'm a little concerned about the trans shifting too early then but we'll see how it goes.
The MLPS was out of adjustment by just a fraction of an inch. And that seemed to fix the problem. The truck will shift great now right off the bat, no more manual shifting on the first attempt of going up through the gears. Probably the best shifting E40D that I have driven. I left the FIPL...
No, there are no backup lights. Didn't even notice until you asked. So could that be a sign that its out of alignment? Its been some time since I aligned one. I will search the subject and read up on it to freshen up.
Ok I will adjust the FIPL to .8v. It actually was at .7 and it acted the...
Truck in question is a 1992 F450 6.9l (engine has been swapped out at some point from a 7.3) 2wd, with a freshly installed new E4OD.
FIPL is set to 1.18V at idle and 4.0V at WOT with the key on and engine off
Tach works great
VSS works great, after replacing one that was a bit fluttery
Trans...
Yup quality had taken a dive. I replace electric fuel pump on my 99 PSD wrecker every few years or couple thousand hours. I don't trust them. And I have also installed an inline see thru pre filter just for extra peace of mind. Yeah it can be done on the side of the road and I do have a used...
Its expensive new but good news that parts can still be obtained. The display is in red.
The magnetic probe, is that the part that goes into the timing hole near the crank pulley? Do you happen to have a picture of that? I may have something somewhere from long ago, just would be nice to...
Hey guys. Just picked up this never been used Kent Moore 33300 for a bargain, here locally. It works. However I am missing the clamp on adapter for the injection lines and probably some other stuff. Never used one before and all I have is what is in the picture, including a lumi probe but...
There was nothing coming from the valley, pretty much all dry in there, including under the turbo. really seemed to come from inside the bellhousing. Never did find out where it was coming from. THEN.....almost overnight, it stopped leaking. driven about 300 miles so far on no leaks. The...
I cant see the drain hole, there is some minor oil in the valley and has been for some time, seems to accumulate for HPOP area over time. I will have a better look. Might remove the intercooler piping to actually see better in there to possibly see something dripping.
Ive developed a bad engine oil leak from the bellhousing area on my 99 7.3. No major leaks up in the valley or under the turbo, the rail plugs area on the back of the heads are dry. Just some "sweating" around the HPOP and that's about it....unless I'm missing something?. I switched to...
Update.
After aprox 800 miles, I had a continuously squeaking serp belt. Ok, tossed a new belt on. It seemed ok for about a day then it started squeaking again. So upon a VERY close inspection, I realized that the Dorman compressor delete pulley (the entire thing including mounting bracket)...
A few months into the new Delco now and not one hiccup and many many starts, and a few hard starts for unrelated reasons. I know a few months isn't a long time or it never used to be, but with all the crap on the market now....I'm kinda impressed. However, with the PSD's I would always...
Well....the main reason I don't go electric on 94-97 psd's is because they don't seem to have the air intrusion/drain back issues that the idi's did. Or at least not as common. So I like to keep non electronic things in service whenever possible but with the idi's man sometimes its tough to...
