E4od, not shifting out of first.

Interesting E4OD issue. No codes, FIPL set to 1.25ish Volts, Recent MLPS (aligned via the mark), VSS/speedo working flawlessly, tach working good. Plug is clean and no corroded wires, same with the MLPS plug. After the trans is in park and you shift to drive, the trans will not shift out of...

    Electric fuel pump part number

Yup, the older P4070's were great. Ran tons of them in many applications, the newer ones (farmed out to China) are JUNK!!!!!! They left me stranded many times. Tried many of them Switched to Walbro FRB-13. No issues since

    Codes P0269 & P0284

Yeah it runs pretty good, a little rough and smokey when cold, no doubt the injectors have a decent amount of wear. Unknown mileage on the injectors. Unfortunately a full new set of injectors is not in the cards at the moment. I will check the hold down bolts and tighten if needed before...

    Codes P0269 & P0284

I have a P0269 and P0284, cyl 3 & 8 injector circuit contribution/balance fault on a 99 F250. After doing some googling, I see that the two codes appear together from time to time but there really isn't any insight as to why. Dose anyone have any thoughts? There is a bit of roughness to it...

    Zf5 synchros

Had a bad 2nd, 3rd and 4th syncro crunch/grind on a S5-42. Always ran synthetic ATF in them for a couple decades now. Yesterday I dumped the ATF in this one and added 4 quarts of Amsoil Syncromesh manual transmission fluid. And I immediately improved the grind in 2,3,4. This one was...

    Amsoil synchromesh in ZF-5

Haha we used to be close when I was in Osoyoos and you in Keremeos, and we never met, and now were still kind of close and haven't met. We'll have to make it happen. Im actually near Slocan. Run a towing outfit here, I tow into Cranbrook from time to time. Are you living in Kimberly or...

    Amsoil synchromesh in ZF-5

Finally got the Amsoil synchromesh MTF in my ZF. I immediately noticed an improved shift into 2nd, 3rd and 4th, (the gears that I was having synchro grind issues with before). Its no longer cold enough to know how it will do in the dead of winter but im pretty sure it will be better then the...

    6.9 block heater?

I wouldn't even try. Nor would I try magnetic pan heaters. I mean, "I" have tried them both in the past, but wouldn't recommend it. Neither are efficient. A lower rad hose heater or circulating heater hose heater are going to be you next best bet. A wabesto is another option, but that's in...

    Coolant

I use the Purple colored Prestone HD diesel coolant in every diesel and have for years. NEVER had a problem of any kind even in cavitation prone engines like 855 Cummins, 7.3 idi etc.

    Amsoil synchromesh in ZF-5

I should have in installed in a couple weeks and will report back. If it helps out the synchro problem even a bit, it will be note worthy.

    6.9 block heater?

If it is an 84, just stop using the block heater. You can leave it in place, but upgrade to a lower coolant hose heater (easiest upgrade) or circulating type heater and not risk the block cracking. They don't ALL crack there, but they can, in those early years. With the lower rad hose heater...

    Amsoil synchromesh in ZF-5

Stumbled across a few quarts of Amsoil Syncromesh on my shelf that I once bought for an NV4500 GM, that I never ended up using. Im due for a fluid change on a ZF-S542 that has some worn syncros and wondering if anyone has had good results. I have heard rumors that it's good stuff. I always...

    Gates water pump, poor quality

A few times a year, I post about some piss poor quality that I experience in new, replacement parts. Too shed light on the lack luster workmanship and spread the knowledge on whats decent and whats not. This time around, it's water pumps that im talking about. I installed 3 Gates 44018 water...

    Howes lubricator / Diesel Treat

That's interesting. I don't believe that a ratio of 2 stroke oil such as that one, would cause hard starting problems. But stranger things have happened....I have been wrong before....lots!!!

    Howes lubricator / Diesel Treat

Exactly. And with the newer junk out there, the injectors are so damn pricy, I would nearly have to declare bankruptcy if I needed a set of injectors and installation.

    Howes lubricator / Diesel Treat

Yeah I have also switched away from Howes, to strictly Stanadyne Lubricity Formula and 2 stroke oil when I find it on sale. I have a bunch of Howes around, I use it when really cold or to treat a questionable fuel tank/fuel that has been sitting or will sit, like in a tidy tank or something...

    Upgrading to electric lift pump

Walbro FRB-13 is what I am now running. DO NOT run Carter's anymore. They used to be good, not anymore. Terrible reliability now.

    6.9idi head retorqueing.

The damn valve cover bolts seem to loosen off over time on all of these....or the gaskets shrink a bit. Just another thing that needs to get snugged up after a while
