    W80: keeping it mixed

Thanks for all that input. Definitely planning to replace the two bad plugs. From what I've read, Bosch is the brand to get and Autolites are questionable.

    W80: keeping it mixed

Did a little more digging and #1 and #4 glowplugs are shot. I guess the dash light stops lighting if two or more go bad. If I turn the key to the on position and wait 10 seconds before cranking, it starts great. I was just too stupid to try and was cranking over instantly assuming they didn't...

No good! How many miles are on the motor?

Any updates on the glow plug issues?

    W80: keeping it mixed

Buying 25% diesel or spending under $1/gal on fuel is basically the same cost wise. Here in the northeast anyway. That is good info to have though, I may try the 75/25 mix when I can't get wvo to stop from yelling this winter.

    W80: keeping it mixed

I had roll my windows up in traffic when it was smoking because it started to bother me. I can afford $1/gal in order to avoid submitting myself and others to that. I don't have any issues if anyone else wants to run WMO, but I don't want to anymore. Maybe if I had a two tank setup where I...

    W80: keeping it mixed

I've had multiple people tell me it smells while following me. I hoped it wasn't noticeable but apparently it is. In traffic, there were HUGE, smelly plumes around me.

    W80: keeping it mixed

No, each definitely have their own pros and cons. Just like anything. I have a sample of 80/20 wvo/stale gas in the freezer right now. :) I have friends doing this into the high teens temp wise around here. If it doesn't work out, luckily I have another vehicle to drive. May experiment with...

    W80: keeping it mixed

Not to poo-poo WMO, but I've always hated the smell and idea of how unhealthy the fumes are. I am tired of seeing the huge cloud of smoke behind me when I'm stuck in traffic. $1/gal for veg is pretty stomachable and achievable around here. I think injector line heaters, timing, and diesel kleen...

    W80: keeping it mixed

I'm almost sure that's exactly it. Seems to be almost unnoticeable at speed. As soon as it goes unloaded for a few minutes, lots of smoke.

    Does propane eat glow plugs?

Why is advanced timing eating glow plugs? Doesn't make sense to me. Also, doesn't advance timing typically lower egt's?

    W80: keeping it mixed

Put close to 250 miles on the wagon in the last day. Ended up sitting in traffic and it started getting rather hot, about 3/4 up the travel of the gauge. I pulled over and let it cool off for a while. Drove fine after, but I found a bouncy oil pressure gauge and empty coolant res once I got to...

    Does propane eat glow plugs?

Interesting. I wonder if timing and/or rug caused the issues with my glow plugs. I was thinking it seemed to timely to be a coincidence.

    W80: keeping it mixed

Week four of daily driving the wagon. Getting a nice puff of white smoke on startup. It appears to clear out when driving, but this week doing a couple trips at night on the highway I could see a decent haze in the headlights behind me, particularly on hills. A coworker followed me to lunch...

Is that on a sweet 6.5?

    Setup, So far free.

Why wouldn't you want a cleaner as well? Continuous cleaning with cetane boost is the way I look at it... Benz seems to be doing well with 20oz of that mixed in a 18-20gal batch.

    WMO burns hotter than diesel?

I know this is not the right way to do it... But I literally just stuck a magnetic dial indicator on the side of the pump and rotated it 2 degrees from where it was. The timing chain had been done about 10k ago, so I was confident no stretch was involved. Made a nice little bump it throttle...

    Setup, So far free.

Are you getting white smoke as well? With no timing advance, heater, or power service mixed in, it not not take long at all for my 6cyl IDI Benz to start coking enough to affect starting. Seems to still be slowly happening on my current 5cyl as well, but taking longer.

Man I am confused with that diagram!

    W80: keeping it mixed

So far, so good. Unless the car is warmed up, I let the heaters run for about 2 minutes before cranking. It stumbles for about 3 seconds then smooths right out. Leaves a little puff of white smoke as I take off but not bad. Fingers crossed heat/timing will keep me at this smoke level! For a...

    W80: keeping it mixed

Heaters and switch installed. Wired to accessory power. Kind of annoying getting the routing such that they were 4" of contact on each line close to injector, but oh well.

    The little 300D that could.

Nope, no info on that. Haven't delved into it on either car. I'm sure I will need to on this one (maybe not) I read something about a couple different style chambers on the 603s when I was looking into it on the last one. If you haven't hit a point where you were rolling down the road mosquito...

    The little 300D that could.

Just as a general impression I get from this thread... Doesn't seem like you are having much of an issue with coking in the MB motors. After 5 days of my 37 miles round trip commute and other misc trips, let's say a total of 5-6hrs of driving (since odometer only works 1/3 of the time haha) I'm...
