Changed my 7.3 Fuel filter head to a 6.9 head, I have a question.

I went through the technical description on ever filter Wix makes at one point, no water separators that will fit the 6.9 head. There is a "universal mount" that will take a GM 6.2 spin on fuel water separator though, I put mine in the same place as the factory water separator, I can look up the...

    Compounding vs Twin

In high performance applications yes, compounds can have an advantage, I know a dozen people that run compounds, I know a lot that run singles. From 400-1200hp trucks, highest single being just over 800 on a single on fuel. Being as I dont see a lot of high performance around here, should...

    Compounding vs Twin

You can do either, and if you want to just to say you did, cool. But the same performance could be had out of a properly sized single. In the "just to say I did" category, my buddys old 6.2

    Cranking slow...everything new!?

The stud top 31s are the way to go, I had to make a couple new cables, the others I just removed the factory end and soldered copper lugs on. Spins over very quickly.

    Cranking slow...everything new!?

Yes soldered ends are crucial, and I prefer 2/0 cable at least :D

    Cranking slow...everything new!?

Absolutely sure the cables are good and tight? I use stud top batteries and if the nut is loose even a tiny bit it makes a huge difference.

    heads up

A lot of us have respect when we know someone from a common group like this started bidding first.

    Carter vs. Facet

Not sure how tall the Facet pump is but theres only one section of frame tall enough to fit this Carter, where it starts to curve up near the tire. Fair warning everyone

    Carter vs. Facet

Morning starts are much better! I know its a bandaid for my air intrusion causing it to lose prime overnight I just havent ordered my return line kit yet. Idles and runs smoother, throttle response is crisper, electric fuel is the way to go.

    Carter vs. Facet

I got it at work, I'm a mechanic and we also have a parts store. Its a Carter P4070, 6psi and 72gph. I have a discount but you can get them for around $80

    Carter vs. Facet

And done! Initial startup was so much smoother than I'm used to, wont have a drive test till tonight. Couple things, I bypassed the factory hardline to the filter head, how necessary is the fuel heater? Also I left both ends of the line off the mechanical pump open.

    Carter vs. Facet

This is probably an accurate statement, but the was a Carter pump sitting on the shelf at work, so its going on in about an hour :D

    Carter vs. Facet

The flow was just a theoretical, it should suffice for most applications. But I want to have enough on the dyno just in case.

    Carter vs. Facet

Its not just how much fuel you use, there has to be plenty of excess for cooling the fuel system. Edit: I could use a lot of fuel flat out for an hour, as long as she didnt melt down. Think of traveling at 60 mph, at 15mpg for an easy number. That 4 gallons in one hour, at very light load...

    Carter vs. Facet

33gph just seems low to me, they are designed to feed a small engine, im sure they work fine and are sufficient for a stock application, but I like fuel.

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yesterday, 3G alternator, today electric fuel.

    Carter vs. Facet

Well just checked and I happen to have one on the shelf at work for a very good price. Looks like its goin on

    Carter vs. Facet

Good to hear guys. 3 PSI wide open is a little less than i would like but that might improve pushing through both my filters. I've had enough bad experiences with Holley pumps I wouldn't even consider it an option.

    truck broke

Check for power to the shutoff solenoid, I've had the fusible link on the passenger inner fender fry for no apparent reason. Replaced with an inline fuse and never had another issue.

    Carter vs. Facet

Since the Facet is the hot new item is anyone still using the Carter p4070? Has a couple things I find beneficial, over double the flow and 1/4 inch pipe fittings so 1/2 inch hose can be used with a sump. Anyone still having good luck?

    Talk to me about alternators.

I just did my 130 amp 3G swap today, piece or cake! Got it off a 92 E250 with a 300-6 so its a direct bolt in. Just a couple wires and done. Just look at your mounting points to see if it needs clocked
