6.9 sputtering while at a constant

When I bought my 1987 6.9 two years ago it would temporarily idle rough in overdrive, seemed to have more power too. I ended up replacing the injection pump, injectors, and return lines. The injectors on mine were leaking and I presumed under extra load they were dripping and partially igniting...

R&D Stage 1 Drop In Turbo

Thanks guys! I know the up pipe has a slight leak where the slip joint seats in place (I had to take it apart when I installed the turbo.) I don't know of any effective way to seal it besides soot or cement puddy. I shift pretty early into 4th so that's probably why I don't see boost in third...

R&D Stage 1 Drop In Turbo

I've definitely watched your videos before! I was wondering what the performance difference is between that turbo and injectors vs a stock turbo and injectors? I've rebuilt my stock turbo for around 200$ and the fuel system is also rebuilt with the IP turned up near 2.5 flats. I get no boost...

what year axles for obs 4wd swap??

I believe any TTB from the 1980s-97 F250/350 will work, making sure the axle gearing is the same though. I have 0 clue about the mounting of the drop brackets/leaf spring perches on the 2wd frame. Then mounting the transfer case to your trans and driveshaft crap. I would honestly just install a...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Installed some seats from a pristine 88 f350 IDI fire truck that the owner decided to put buckets into. These seats are nicer than my whole truck!

    E4OD Problems

I can't give you any great advice, but my 87 F250, 6.9 4x4 with a ZF5 and 4:10 gear ratio is up near 1900-2100rpm at 55-60mph it was far worse when NA. I'm no expert on E4ODs though.

Just go for a 4" lift kit.

    I second that statement

    Turbo talk

Look, I failed at putting a CX racing H1C 18cm exhaust housing turbo on my IDI stock turbo pipes, yet I got 1 psi on a NA pump at NA fuel setting. The oil restrictor didn't oil the turbo enough and I started blowing oil, but a 12-16cm housing with fuel turned up might work well, the turbos are...

Now it's time for tires, what size do ya'll think are the maximum safe size for a TTB?

Just go for a 4" lift kit.

Well this is a longtime update on the TTB trials, after ordering the longer drop brackets and finding out that at the highest adjustment point I was at a slight positive camber 1-2 degrees I decided to fix it. I went back to protune to order their "mini leaf pack" 2" lift. After receiving the...

    6.9 Exhaust System

I've just taken to get my F250, 6.9idi, factory turbo with banks downpipe to have the exhaust welded, as well as to have the truck aligned. I went with a 4" diamond eye exhaust for an OBS powerstroke. I went with a cat back/with muffler system and had more than enough pipe for my singlecab...

    Oil leak

As "boogieman" said, it could be the oil feed leaking, either the part on the turbo itself or the connection to the oil pressure sender. Also it could be the oil drain which was the previous CDR tube, mainly due to not punching holes through the drain baffle. Good luck!

So if you use the Tuff Country 2" lifted springs be sure to use the longer drop brackets from "Protune Suspension" I believe; I just found mine on EBay though.

    About this slip joint...

Well idk, it seems the biggest issue with the factory systems are the crushed downpipe. The housing is said to be a tad restrictive, but the factory downpipe is the biggest restriction.

After the new axle pivot brackets!

    BROWN FARM TRUCK BUILD

The high compression ratio usually leaves a ton of crankcase gas buildup, yet the exhaust can be clear. The CDR is bolted on the rear of the intake and the a CDR vent will push the leftover gases into the intake. The F250 TTBs come with negative arched springs from the factory, they are thick...

    BROWN FARM TRUCK BUILD

The road draft tube is relatively simple, yet get ready for a haze of crankcase gas under the truck. I'd just get a new CDR. Great looking truck though!!! A D60 and SD springs should soften up the ride; I don't mind my TTB, but it can be a mess to align.

Haha I had to get a little more lift with setting the lifted springs. Appreciate the concern though!

Just go for a 4" lift kit.

I'm back y'all! So after searching the interwebs for drop Axle pivot brackets between 2" and 4" I found a company on EBAY that sells some strange 3" lift for TTB F250s with a "mini leaf pack" for the front. Looks just like some sort of block with a spring center-bolt that goes through it...

    7.3 IDI Turbo Tune-Up

Motorcraft plugs, new injectors, replace or slightly advance your pump if it seems to have retarded timing (white/grey smoke on hard acceleration), and maybe adjust the fuel a flat or two... Other than that, go with Maccrob's suggestion for a pump. Check your turbo for excessive play as well, I...

    Engine oil for 7.3 idi?

I've had 15W-40 Rotella in my 6.9 for near 200 miles as a test, we will see!

And would you recommend a 4" drop pitman or a 3" drop pitman?
