    He used a glow plug style compression tester and the 1, 3 cylinders were low. He also said to confirm they are low compression, he measured the heat from the exhaust manifolds.

    I don't see why you couldn't use a ac condenser, the only issue I think would come up would be over cooling the transmission, you should add an in line filter and a banks transcommand.

    As far as I know the intake manifolds are the same. The heads are not interchangeable because the 6.9 has 7/16 head bolts and the 7.3 idi has 1/2 inch head bolts.     Coolant issues...

    I would replace the engine block heater oring (if equipped), obviously the oil cooler gaskets, Coolant hoses, maybe water pump, thermostat housing gasket, also the lower coolant housing gasket that hooks up to the lower radiator hose.

    I wouldn't be worried about using Caterpillar coolant (elc) lots of members (including me) have used it without issues , if your concerned about it eating away at your oil cooler orings and etc, you should change those as they are most likely over 20 years old.
