    Mysterious Fuel Leak

When you say it stalls when under a 1/4 tank more than likely your shower head on the fuel pickup in the tank is broken, the fuel leak by your fuel filter head could be the water separater leaking or your fuel heater and it could be a leaky return line under the fuel filter, look at the...

    6.9/7.3 idi cylinder head question

My question is, would oringing the cylinder heads on a 6.9/7.3 idi be as beneficial as it is on 6.0? I got the idea from powerstrokehelp.com's YouTube videos.

    Burning Off Rotella Really Fast..?

Cdr, its like a pcv valve for the older idi diesels, it separates the oil from the vapor and drains back down into the valve cover and it prevents a runaway situation. If your cdr is still painted it's probably original, and should be replaced.

    7.3 Fuel system woes

I would drop and clean both tanks, replace or blow out fuel lines like asmith said, and just go through everything.

    Running without a fuel filter

Umm that's not a good idea at all, considering you could cause damage to not only to your injection pump but also your injectors, and those arnt cheap. A rebuilt injection pump is around 500 and that's if your core is good, and Injectors could be around 300-400. I wouldn't even start the truck...

    preemptive strike

Engine builder mag says all of the 6.9-7.3t crank shafts are forged steel but doesn't specifically say what the rods are made of, my guess would be forged steel also. http://www.enginebuildermag.com/2006/07/rebuilding-the-international-6-97-3l-powerstroke-engine/

    preemptive strike

I had a 7.3t long block for sale a few months ago, if made the trip up here I would have gladly given it to you or a member if they made the trip to pick it up.

I would check the play in the turbo (in/out and side to side).

Final charge coolant is fine by its self, don't dilute with green coolant and yes only use distilled water. 4 gallons of final charge and 4 gallons of distilled water is what you need. At napa they have range of coolant filters containing 0 added sca to 8 units of sca. You need the coolant...

    idi Mechanics in Denver area?

DANG!!! a gallon in a hundred miles, are there any external leaks, please put your truck and details into your signature. You must have a blue cloud chasing you everywhere you go. A Cdr is most likely the culprit. Changing a cdr and a set of injectors is not really that hard. You just need a...

    Are the idi's worth keeping?

You may need to look at cities farther away on craigslist, I found my 94 crew cab idi turbo on Craigslist over 200 miles away for 2500 bucks, you can bet once I got a hold of the owner I was calling in sick to work to go an pick that truck up. Some of the best trucks are found in the middle of...

Welcome, if you were to go to a jiffy lube or a quick lube place ask if you can watch them, and if they say no walk away, my family has had more than one bad experiences with quick lube places putting too much oil into my mother's astro van and causing severe leaks when the van was brand new and...

    Oil comming from????

It looks to be in the area below the fuel filter, is your engine pretty dirty because my old engine when it did leak fuel it looked like oil because of how dirty my engine was.

Intake valve and exhaust valve cleaner???

Maybe some of the members trucks previous owners didn't know about the cdr and just kept adding oil, I bet a bad cdr could cause some build up on the intake valves.

    Are the idi's worth keeping?

In my research, looking online and following racinndrumin ' s idi build on fte, the idi is more than capable of producing mild powerstroke/cummins power, I think 350 hp and 700+ torque is what I last saw on YouTube, and that was on a stock factory turbo 7.3 bottom end, the heads were rebuilt...

Power steering Hose Leaking Not Pump How do i repair this ?

Idk if there is any high pressure in the power steering but I have replaced all of my power steering lines and clamps and have had no issues.

Intake valve and exhaust valve cleaner???

Yes Icanfixall is correct on the runaway situation, a little bit of advice to all diesel owners always have a fire extinguisher on hand or in the truck, even I have one sitting under the cigarette lighter My thought process was a way to clean the intake valves through a over a weekend seafoam...

Power steering Hose Leaking Not Pump How do i repair this ?

Replace the entire black hose with oil rated/transmission fluid line and just cut off the crimp clamp and replace with a flat head hose clamps, it's a fairly simple job to do.

    injector knock after turbo install?

My vote would be injectors, but accurate diesel has a fair reputation, it would be easy to throw injectors into one of those parts cleaners that scratches the surface of parts,( makes them look new). You could also pour a quart of transmission fluid or cetane booster in both of the tanks at...

Intake valve and exhaust valve cleaner???

I agree with riotwarrior, autorx is your best option. Before I owned my first diesel I had a lot of cars and trucks that I used seafoam on and it always helped but the only way I see cleaning at least the intake valves is pour a can or 2 of seafoam in the intake, and letting it sit over a week...

What all is involved in putting a 93 turboed 7.3 in place of my 91 n/a

I would defiantly pick that engine up ASAP, the hypermax intercooler for the factory turbo engines is pretty expensive but here is the link http://www.gohypermax.com/ProductDisplay.aspx?ID=609d8d58-1275-42db-a6c0-930988464089 You can easily get a intercooler and pipes for 500.

    Oil level

If you fill your oil too much it will touch the crank shaft and cause the truck to run like crap. That would make sense to me

    Are the idi's worth keeping?

The local auto parts stores will eventually run out of parts for the idi, just like on the auto zone app the last time I looked they only had autolite glow plugs, but on ebay new motorcraft parts show up pretty frequently. There are still plenty of parts for the idi you just have to look on the...
