    After years of idi ownership...

Yep! It reads rpm great. So injector is sanded, ground is good, battery connection stable, it just didn't pick up timing.

Yes...and no. I got it to fit. Ended up taking a right angle drill with a letter size O drill bit and running it in there. Had to take the vacuum pump off to get access, but once I did, lots of room. The probe fits in there PERFECTLY now. And if yours is like mine, it's got a spring around...

    IDI Facebook groups

Funny you should post this. I just joined my first one (well, three, they all got 'recommended' together) and aye aye aye! I couldn't believe the misinformation and bad advice going around! I just about can't take it, I don't be surprised if I leave there sooner than later. Also, I feel like...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Rock, you got it bad, man. (lest you be confused: I say that out of jealousy, not judgement) ;) So what's that bring your total count to, now?

    Nice! Bookmarked.

    After years of idi ownership...

Than Thanks for all the tips guys! Mine must have a smaller diameter access or something. I've got a drill the next size up in my index , Size "O" that's a .316. I might see if that opens it up just enough to get it in there. My probe has expanding springs on the end of it, so I imagine it'll...

How are y'all getting the probe in there? Mine wouldn't go in at all, even after hand drilling out with a 5/16s.

I just got the free shipping one too. Offered $161 and he took it. Not a bad price at all! My plan is to head out tomorrow and time the truck. First time timing one, should be fun!

Project! Introducing Smokey Pete, the 1989 F250.

You ain't kiddin. I put my foot into it and whoever's behind me disappears. It's silly fun, although I think my mileage is about a third of what it used to be.

Hahaha! Nope, I keep my pyrotechnics to the mountains. Too close to the coast and I start getting antsy. And boonies? Yup. But my wife has a different vision of what that looks like. And my argument of "but rust IS organic" doesn't fly, I tried.

Ain't that the truth! Been there too many times!

So what did you do with your truck today?

I'm running a first get (non wastegated) Banks. EGT's climb really high, really quickly. Wes recommended I do a 90 to be on the safe side if I tow much, but I don't really tow with this one at all, and I'm planning a bigger turbo in the future, so I went bigger and I'll just watch the EGT's in...

Ahh, body work. That's the one area I haven't delved much into, I've been lucky enough to cherry pick the trucks that have no rust as the keepers. Keep us posted on your body-work-adventures, I'd love to learn from you.

Project! Introducing Smokey Pete, the 1989 F250.

Which brings us to last night. My son and I spent time installing a new 110cc pump from Classicdieseldesigns.com (thanks @Thewespaul!) and stage 1 injectors. It's a little hot for my 1st gen banks until I get it upgraded, but that's $$ that will have to come later. In the meantime, I'll just...

Project! Introducing Smokey Pete, the 1989 F250.

I then decided that if it was going to run good, I needed to make it look good. I picked up a buffer from Harbor freight and some compound, and went to work. Started like this, oxidized and scratched. After about an hour of work, he SHINES!

Project! Introducing Smokey Pete, the 1989 F250.

While I had the front end off, I decided to get some Chassis Black paint and paint up the frame and axle. THAT was fun! Got the engine dressed and installed. I raised up the body this time, and it went in WAAAAY easier. Definitely recommend that as the way to do it. Also made sure to...

Project! Introducing Smokey Pete, the 1989 F250.

Been way too long since I updated this. I'll see if I can go back in time and bring it up to speed. Let's see, I went on a buying spree and bought a few more trucks. I had 4 in total at one point, maybe 5 (it's hard to keep track). Fixed them by replacing an E4OD in one, bought another from...

So what did you do with your truck today?

We installed our new CDD 110 pump and stage 1 injectors last night! Best helper around! Hoping to get it fully timed in the next couple days (bought one of those surplus hummer timing units!) but in the meantime, looking forward to seeing if it has extra power. :Thumbs Up

What Gear Oil Do You Run in Your Diffs...

Super tech here too (cheap from walmart). I use 75-90 front and rear, but I don't tow heavy at all, and more than hot days we get cold days so I figure the thinner oil on cold days probably helps a little. So, my advice is worth what you paid for (nothing) but that's my theory anyway. I also...

What's a good aftermarket gauge cluster?

I might be way off base here, but something to investigate further - do Bricknose and OBS era trucks utilize the same instrument cluster setup? I seem to recall they may be interchangeable, but it's been so long since I've had an OBS I can't remember what it looked like. That might explain why...

Yeah, check online. Or O'Reilly's sells them for about $11 a plug, if I recall.

    calling @thewespaul

When I talked to him last week about a pump, he was working through all the crazy Texas weather they've been having. I'm sure that delayed him quite a bit on a few orders.
