Question on Timing
There ya go. Can't find a source for the High Idle Solenoid currently. Might be a scrap yard run. Another thing to note, is the High idle solenoid won't self set. You need to depress the throttle after key-on and the solenoid will latch.- krogo

Question on Timing
The Glow Plug system is very straight forward. It contains no wizards nor unicorns. I only plug mine in if we are expecting significant snow as the coolant convection through the heater core automatically keeps the windshield clean. I've never had an issue starting Queso even in Sub 0...- krogo

Speaking of return lines, BE CAREFUL... If the truck starts "quickly" right now and the lines or caps aren't leaking, Don't touch them, like literally, do not touch them, not even a wiggle. Even "Booping" them can break a seal that's held for years. Return lines are a source of Ford IDI...- krogo

There will be far more people with far more knowledge answer you but here is my contribution. One of the first things I do getting a "new to me" vehicle is to do what I like to call a 'Stage 0." Change all fluids, replace all common consumables, etc.. Completely agree with @MtnHaul on...- krogo

Let's put it this way. I've worked for the Big C for a decade and a half and I've chosen to mod the IDI. You can do ALOT more for the same money if you aren't in $5k on adapters.- krogo

Weekend update. I had forgotten to mention while the heads were off that I played with several different way to clean out the injector bores. What worked best for me was Brakefree foaming bore cleaner. I filled each cavity, let it sit for 30 minuets, then hit the bores with a 12 Gauge brass...- krogo

Took a half day today. Got the Oil cooler pressed back together and bolted on. Prepped the Fuel Filter mount, pedestal, and fasteners and got those Cerakoted. Sorry for the lack of updates. Cerakoting and engine sure does take alot of time..... Cylinders have been deglazed. Correction... Heads looked good at first glance. Flatness is good, no warping. Valve guides are good, no slop (haven't measured yet). Intake valves are good, no noticeable wear and good pattern. Exhaust valves are no good. Major wear on the valve face in the form of an deep groove...- krogo

Ended up having to order a stand. None could be found locally. Ordered a 2000lb stand from Jegs September 1. Somehow, delivered September 2. The Box wasn't damaged from shipment. I opened the box. Missing 2 of the 6 casters. Missing ALL of the hardware. Missing the Turning Plate/Head...- krogo

Tis a sad day. I had hoped this stand would work. I've had a turbo 2.3, 4.6, 5.4, 240 & 300 I6's, OHC 3.0, 460 and (gasp) GM 327 & 350 hanging off her. I was convinced that after the 300 I-6, nothing could damage it, yet the IDI was too much. I have shed my tear, time to move on.- krogo
