Update. I've been working on getting the '08 seats fitted, this coupled with recovery from a surprise follow-up surgery has kept any "major" progress from occurring. Hoping to get back at it full swing soon. In my recovery "downtime", I've integrated seat heat control into the Arduino that...

I completely made the switch to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in everything but the diesels around the place. We currently have two p2 Volvo's, both with the 2.5 5 cylinder, one turbo, one NA. When I made the switch 6 years ago I sent samples off for analysis and honestly, I couldn't tell the...

The one absolute upside is no leaking wastegate valve. "Wiring" the wastegates closed, I read, is very common on these factory turbos. @Thewespaul helped me with turbine and compressor sizing, so I defer to his wealth of knowledge and experience. Exactly right. I've used copper washers and...

Sorry for the delay. The new oil pan and pickup arrived and I did get them installed. Since I last posted, life got in the way. The daughters Volvo S60 suffered a blocked oil pickup (Something common on high mileage P2 Volvo's) My Volvo XC70 (DD) decided on the coldest week of the year to...

We'll see how I feel tomorrow. Good news. Somehow the eBay algorithm missed a pickup tube in my search earlier. One was available fairly close to me and is on the way.

What I HAVE learned is that this engine hoist is going in the scrap pile when I'm done. It shall not pass go, it shall never reach Valhalla, it shall be condemned to rot in a pile of burning Sulphur for all eternity. And I shall live with shame and embarrassment for using such an abomination.

Ohh, it's very much deformed. I completely appreciate the situation! Hopefully someone in a warmer climate (;) @Thewespaul ;)) has one lying around. I'm a complete bonehead. Ughhh..

Minor disaster. While moving the engine around the shop making room in preparation to install it, the stupid engine hoist tipped over. Upon inspection, it seems the engine landed squarely on the oil pan, crushing it. I know I'm in for a pan obviously and I'm not going to gamble on the pickup...

No joke... It surprised the hell out of me! There was also assembly lube in play. I also have no idea where timing is (it's obviously in the ballpark). Its got a Denso style starter (forgot the brand) on fresh batteries and a charger cooking. She was spinning over fast. We'll see if this was a...

I was actually surprised it lit off without glow plugs in a 50 degree building! I had been wondering if the Ceramic coating on the pistons and the Total Seal rings would effect cold starting in a noticeable way. My initial observations are that is has! I had considered blipping for the...

Weekend update (Saturday Edition) Located a Manual Trans flywheel. Bled Injection pump lines and built oil pressure. Gator clipped the IP to the batteries, Turned her over and she lit off nicely. Ran it at ldle for 15 seconds to verify Oil pressure and I've identified a couple fuel leaks on...

Thanks, That means a lot coming from you! I did take the opportunity to replace the evaporator while I had easy access. It honestly would have been impossible with the engine in as the bottom screws were so wasted I had to grind them out. Glad I did too. Even though the face of the evaporator...

The Floor and Tunnel Shield II wasn't too bad to work with. I found that a set of Vinyl siding/Roofing shears worked beautifully for cutting the material. Tin snips and carpet shears just bound up on the adhesive layer. Although the product forms easily by hand, I used body and a ballpeen...

On the crossover and up-pipe casting: Form-A-Shield from DEI. It's a pain to work with, but I'm enjoying the challenge. I figured it couldn't hurt to keep the heat in the turbo and keep the heat out of the bay. On the firewall: Floor and Tunnel shield II, also from DEI. Honestly, I've enjoyed...

I'm aware of car-part, however I was very unaware of the free shipping aspect! Thank you for the tip! I got my replacement core support from them. They are sure proud of their freight shipping though. With the fenders at $99 a piece, it's hard to cough up $150 in freight. No luck locally...

    Question on Timing

I could always tell when mine was active, but to my ear it is subtle and on a warm engine or even "warmish" it was harder to detect. You may not have your ear trained for it yet. Glow plug harness is a cinch to replicate. I have my old one handy if you need some pics.
