The hard chunks doesnt seem magnetic. It is brittle like an old O-ring when i try to squeeze one in half. The biggest chunk I saw was about 1/16 wide. almost all of the chunks were gasket thin. Could that be clutch material?
I looked into other forums about e40d and some have said that a coast...
Update.
I dropped the transmission pan. Not sure if this is normal for the amount of miles it has.
Should I still get a new torque converter? I have havent got to taking the transmission off the engine. What else should I look for? if I pull the transmission out, How would I know for sure the...
so far, you guys were right. OD is good. fluids are good. No metal shavings in the pan. fluid level was a little high tho. It covers the entire plastic measurement thing. Where can I get a shorter dipstick? jk. would overfilling it make the flexplate crack or bottom out? I hammered the truck on...
Im about halfway to pulling the transmission out. I have unbolted the flexplate off the TC and when I try to flex it with my finger, it creaks. ****. Ive replaced this flexplate a year ago because I thought the first one was cracked. The first one I had was still good but the starter gear is...
I am currently looking at this "triple disc" Torque converter as an upgrade. I know it might be overkill, but I hate bottlenecks on anything mechanical. Im not sure if it's a complete bolt on TC

Ive got this e350 7.3 idi with an E40d transmission. I cant figure out if the sound is related to the torque converter or a gear is cooked inside.
My best hope is that it is engine related and maybe out of fuel.
The sound is twice as loud as the normal engine does. At first I thought it was...
i had a vinyl tubing on top of my IP for a year. It would be soft when its warm. Almost like jello. Anyways I replaced after a year. If your at a pinch just do it.
i try to heat it up at 90c. my breaker likes to trip after that. The condenser works passive. just a bucket that has a tube going through it close to the top. heat goes to cold. it takes the relative humidity inside the heated tank and hopefully falls rains to the bucket.
I have a barrel heater band outside. I mounted it near the top of the oil so that clean oil stays up top while it evaporates. The pickup goes down to the bottom of the barrel.
How do you confirm its a lifter? I have that same tick noise when i'm engine braking. no under throttle tho. I never touched the valve springs but i might just end up upgrading it if it is that.
isnt there a cable shutoff setup out there somewhere? I remember looking it up when my alternator would backfeed to the fss and would not turn off the engine.
the only thing it would hurt is the alternator. Its not gonna kill it but it will eventually wear it out faster. The alternator will try to charge the battery run the starter and run the glowplugs. the glowplugs drain a lot of amps. almost as much as the starter. if your engine is already warm...
That is extra lol. Thats cool tho. I just have 3 key switches to operate my van. 1 on ignition. 1 on fss. 1 on fuel pump. 1 key switch is hidden. have you accidentally blown some fuses?
You can put a faraday cage on the sensitive elctronics like the transmission controller on e40d.
Emp doesnt really affect relays and all that we have to start the engine.
I dont think you will survive with our engine for the first 3 weeks tho. It sure will fire up after sitting for 10 years.
A...
Centrifuge is my next project. My wmo is basically straight out of the engine syntethic oil. mercedes dealer oil changes. i did run the barrel with a 5 micron sock. my truck has aftermarket cat filters.I think the oil and diesel mix was just too thick. bbjordan, I saw your setup on youtube...
Wes always there for the people! I keep seeing justin's name and injection pump come out in the same sentence. I want to see how well his name stands up. Can you build a 90cc pump? I remember asking you for a quote once but I wanted to wait until R&D pumps were available. Is it possible to have...
So I tried running a batch of 50/50 wmo that had been sitting for 7 months (wmo not diesel). starts right up but when I blip the throttle, the engine drops rpm too far and stalls out. I tried driving it and it would die if I let go of the throttle too fast. When It got in to WOT it ran ok. Every...
Where did you get your alternator? My ambulance came from swat lol.Thats why it's black. It was stripped of the sirens and lights tho. It had labels on the cabinets for "rifles, vests, etc". messy wiring all over the place
Sorry. I was a little drunk last night. Anyways, antifreeze is biodegradable. both EG and PG.
Dont let your baby drink it but it does biodegrade rather quickly...
Propylene glycol is biodegradable. people are literally smoking this stuff (vaping). I dont dump mine on the ground but on a drain. There is no Laws prohibiting you in California in disposing it this way. antifreeze got some bad rep from ethylene glycol (old school antifreeze) that will poison...
port inject the old coolant like water meth. This is un related but, I was reading a forum post about blowing a gasket on a dyno and had a sudden peak of HP. I did some diggin and found out that propylene glycol (coolant) is also known as propane-diol. A propane molecule with 2 oxygen atoms...
