    Disc brake dually

About a year ago, I blew the bottom seal out of the power steering box on the hydroboost F450, in rush hour traffic.. loaded [the truck, not me] and lost steering and brakes in the course of ONE stop, along with all the power steering fluid. Interesting.... doesn't quite describe it... The...

    Disc brake dually

I'll jump in on this. I have two 92 trucks, so apples to apples comparison. One is an F 450 cab chassis dually with discs on all 4 wheels and hydroboost, the other is an F 350 dually with drums on rear, vacuum assist. 450 weighs about 1,500 lbs more than the 4 dr. long bed 350, yet it...

Nice score.... but the oil is contaminated with anhydrous..?

Looks like agitation of the oil with a air bubble system would cause the ammonia to react with the air bubbles and be carried away with proper venting. it's reactive with water.. but if you put water in the oil.. you have to take it out.. and it will be "ammonia water" so not good, in my book.

    White Smoke At Highway Speeds

I had the same symptoms, after looking at everything you just did, determined the injection pump was dying.. replaced pump and injectors.. issue solved.. Could be, after hitting full temp from driving at highway speeds the pump starts to lay down. Mileage is about right for the IP to get tired.

    Truck bed is crooked?

Loosen the bed bolts and adjust the alignment of the bed so the spacing from the cab is equal on both sides. Then.. Take a piece of plumbers twine [the yellow / orange or pink stuff] and tape it to the top body line at the front fender, both sides. Run a string line the full length of the...

    Electrical Cleaner?

If you have corrosion issues at contacts I suggest a spray product called DeoxIT D5, www.caig.com is their website addy... It's not cheap, but it works when others don't. It actually dissolves corrosion on contacts. Dielectric grease doesn't.. it blocks water and contaminants which cause...

7.3 IDI Smokes at all times

Do two things. 1. Open the radiator cap.. watch for bubbles coming up out of the coolant, or coolant being pushed out the filler neck. 2. While it's running, hold a piece of white paper within 2 or 3 inches of the exhaust pipe. If you have bubbles in coolant, or if you get coolant...

    Visor removal question

I would simply use a punch ground to a small cone shape to dimple the holes, after grinding the surface to remove paint and leave some grip.. then bondo fill the holes. You are going to have to fill and sand/paint after welding anyway.. so why not bondo them and pass on welding. If you prep...

    Air starter....

I have owned 3 diesel pusher 40 ft buses with air starters on Detroit 8V71 engines. IF the air system is tight and you have NO leak down anywhere, you MAY get a start. If you have any air issues at all, like the start solenoid valve leaking or other issues, you have a whole system to wring...

80-86 tailgate, best quality heaviest available?

I have a perfect 80 - 86 tailgate setting on the shelf. Arizona no rust tailgate. I paid $180 for it thinking it would fit my 92.. it didn't.. body lines changed just enough it wasn't "exactly right" for the 92. If you are interested, IM me. I'd like what I have in it.. you pay freight...

    Pictures inside the precup chamber

I just went back to the very first picture you posted and I can see the "88" clearly in that picture of the OEM precup... Since it's Ford, and since it's a "dealer item", I'm betting the "88" is to remind the parts guy of the $88 markup profit to charge.. hahaha.. Special thanks to our...

Wouldn't have contact information for those folks handy? I'm getting ready to do a head gasket job on my 92, 7.3, studs and guides and seals, check for cracks etc etc.. sure would be handy to just pop in a fresh set of pre-cups and call that part good at least.

So, $15 each for NEW? That's really way less than I thought. Seems that everyone so far has been saying they are "damn expensive" . Hell, I pay more than double that for an airplane spark plug. Please confirm they were "new parts".. Thanks

How to keep pumps from being messed with?

Congratulations on your stress reduction program. :backoff Sounds to me like you laid down the law and mean to make it stick. That has always worked for me.. seldom a comfortable hat to wear... but to make a business last and run.. one that has to be worn. Good luck !!!

How to keep pumps from being messed with?

Thank you for your support ! .. Hahahhaah.. Not this time.. not ever.. I would line up the present group of criminals on the white house lawn on their knees in front of an open trench Chinese style.. and add a new meaning to "You're Fired". Don't think that would quite fly.. LOL But...

How to keep pumps from being messed with?

Family owned businesses can present a unique set of problems if no one is in charge and you try to run it by "committee".. Which is a formula for failure and grief. Bottom line: Someone has to be "in charge" and everyone else has to follow the rules. The "in charge guy" can't be thin skinned...

How to keep pumps from being messed with?

After 55 years of being a business owner, I've found that NOTHING works as well as a good public ass kicking, with steel toe boots, of the guilty party. Line up everyone from the chief shit shovel pusher to the President and lay down the law, ONE TIME. Then fire anyone who violates that law...

So then, if you install a new cup, it must be ground to match the particular head? Am I understanding that correctly? Are new cups available? Or are they on the "you can't get this list"?

So.. looks like a brass pin punch slightly smaller than the injector threads is the desired method.. slightly rounded so no marks... and gentle persuasion with a hammer from the injector side to "push" the cup out? Is there any indexing to be observed on re-assembly? Any tips for putting...

    Positive Battery Cable

DC4 = Du-Electric Grease CRC makes it and calls it "Technician Grade Di-Electric Grease" ... should find it at O'rilleys, or Napa. or any decent parts store. I've worked in aviation for decades and the product we always used was called "DC4" so got used to calling it that.. sorry.. It...
