    Soda blasting

Look around your local area for a soda blasting company. Drop by for a visit and ask them questions about how they prep after they spray to neutralize the soda. Soda blast media is to the best of knowledge, bicarbonate soda, just in harder form than the missus uses to bake bread. It should...

    Red Diesel Smells funny?

I'd mix it 50/50 with fresh fuel in one tank.. start up on the other tank , warm up the motor good, then switch to the "funny smelling fuel tank' and drive it like I stole it till it was gone.. think of it as a legal EPA burn off.. ;) Still betting it's just 10 yr old diesel, gone stale..

    Red Diesel Smells funny?

How long has the fuel been setting?.. Could just be stale ... I'd mix it with fresh and run it. If it was farm fuel.. could have been in the farm tank for a long time before it found it's way into the truck tank.. who knows.

    Clutch pedal

Sure, glad to. Sorry I don't have a picture of one I can post. I use an old fashioned hand oil pump. It's like the big ones the old railroad people used only smaller. Holds about a pint of fluid and has a lever that you squeeze to pump oil up the long spout to squirt oil to what ever you want...

    dually tire size help

I've ran 235x85x16 tires on my F 450 and F 250 .. no problems.. Have a friend who put a set of 245x70x16 on his F 350 and to me it seems not enough space. If he runs heavy and has a lot of tire flex I believe contact would be made. Check the weight rating on the 235x85's.. I think they will...

Where to store a car hauler trailer in the city? Pros and cons of ownership...

Ryder box truck, or Uhaul box truck, with a car haul trailer on the back... = One car, and a boat load of "stuff in the box truck. Fuel milage will suck but you will make the move in one pass. Your truck with another car haul trailer behind it with car #2 on it. Girlfriend driving that rig...

No start after slave cyl install

On my 87 there was a little black box that mounts roughly above the foot throttle peddle, one screw. electrical plug at the back , if I recall.. the little black box has the key buzzer [leave key in ignition, it goes buzzz when you open door] . I removed the box, pulled the plug and the Clutch...

No start after slave cyl install

Suggest you may want to make a trip to your local auto parts store help isle.. you can find replacement bleed valves with nipples. Take the offending piece of crap out and take it with you to match up threads and seat area. A bleed valve with a nipple should cost you less than $2.. if I recall.

No start after slave cyl install

Yes, you could have damaged the clutch switch. The clutch position switch on your truck locks out the starter if the clutch is not pushed in. If the switch has gone bad, you are not getting the correct position information and you will get no starter action with the key. Set the park brake...

    Brake Problems

Just did a brake job on my 87 F250, 4x4 two weeks ago. Came time to bleed the system and no helper to be found, so I picked up a used cheap electric fuel pump out of my "spare parts bin" and some clear plastic tubing and did this: Put the tubing on the "intake side" of the fuel pump on the...

    Braking Problem

I'll take bets on you having the right front caliper frozen up in it's slide mounts. Left caliper is working better so it gives you majority of stopping power. Take off the right front wheel and give a good look at the brake pads for even wear. Also, while you are there, drive out the square...

    scarry wheel hop

Check everything in the front end to see if you have anything lose that shouldn't be. However, what you are describing is something that happens at a certain speed. I would suspect [from experience] that you have a tread separation in a tire. When you reach the trigger speed the rotating...

    "New truck" Overheat.. Ideas?

Thanks to everyone who replied so far. Good points on checking the old thermostat even though I'm going to replace it. I have a laser digital thermometer so easy to do with a pan of water and a gas stove.. Just monitor the temp and watch the movement. I'll do that and report back. Will be...

    "New truck" Overheat.. Ideas?

Thanks, good idea. Just checked the fan clutch and water pump bearing play. Pump bearings seem OK. Fan clutch is doing what it should. So it's looking more and more like the wrong thermostat issue. Just ran a piece of .040 stainless safety wire [turned the end back on it's self so it was...

    "New truck" Overheat.. Ideas?

Ok.. got a "new" truck. 1987 F-250 XLT HD 4x4 SRW. 6.9 engine, T19 4 speed trans [not sure which transfer case it has yet]. It has the extended cab, long bed. It has an 8 ft cab over camper. [no overhang out the back, only bed length. Cab over part fits the extended cab. Just rebuilt the...

    Front end alignment for dummies

I just did rebuild the entire front end on my 87 F250, D50 so can shed some light on your question. The above post with pictures tells the story about the parts you want to look at to bring in the adjustment. There are a selection of offset bushings to choose from to give you the range of...

    Clutch pedal

State secret... time to share it with the group. I have a system that bleeds these clutch systems first time, every time. Works like this. Go find a new [never had oil in it] old fashioned hand pump oil pump gun and about 3 ft of clear poly hose small enough to just fit over the bleed screw...

    Clutch problem

Having just done one, I can tell you removal is a first class bitch. Lack of room is the worst of it. Try this: 1.Remove seats to give yourself working room. How you lay to reach up to the space makes a big difference in how much leverage you get. 2. Move the wiring as much out of your way...

    Clutch problem

I'll take bets your problem is the clutch lever, under the dash, above the steering column, right side. It has a pin that pushes the rod that drives the fluid from the Clutch Master to the Clutch Slave. As the pin wears [from never being lubed, after the shit bushing Ford makes fails] you...
