Did the 60's Ford truck ever come in 4 door?

I don't want to jack this thread, but this just came up on the local Craigs List. Seems someone on this thread could give it the love it needs and a good IDI engine it deserves.. http://tucson.craigslist.org/cto/4303760429.html Not mine, never saw it in person, don't know anything other...

Vemco Dana v drive system wanted.

Never saw such an animal.. didn't know they even existed.. One look tells me they weren't an engineering success... and I wonder how or why they were ever produced? Double your trouble, had to ride like a brick, steer like a brick. I could be wrong.

    Interesting Battery Meters

Been using something like that for years in motor homes with the off grid battery systems on them. Also, I have one in use [not that brand, but same function] for the solar system at my ranch. Lets me see the current status of charge for the battery bank. Very helpful and useful. It does...

    zf5 tranny question

Thanks. Since I have a F450 Superduty ZF 5 speed with the parking brake, the above information will be filed away for rebuild time so I can source the right parts. The parking brake tail housing is apparently made by Ford from pure gold with diamond plating based on the price for...

how to make a rustbelter cry (again) :D

I'm STUNNED. The tires actually show highway wear, it's less than perfect, dump it in the trash.. have it crushed.. Then send pictures... lol... it will be your only redemption... not :rotflmao :rotflmao Good find.. amazing, there are still some out there like that.

    SPINOFF: Aluminum injector return rail.

Bottom line is the design of the caps with the O-rings is a poor design for sealing. It relies on the tension of the O-ring material only to make the seal. That tension weakens with the age of the O-ring, there is no way to "tighten" the amount of contact force on the O-ring, consequently...

    Brownie gear box find.

http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/hvo/4216619184.html This came up on local craigslist just a moment ago. Guy has 6 brownie boxes for sale at $250 each. They are not mine, I have no contact with the guy, I know nothing other than what is in the ad. It appears they have all had a "fresh...

Had it with the return caps!

I found some nice silicone grease that is used for swimming pool O rings. [pool supply stores have tubes of it for cheap] I lube up the O rings and the caps. O rings slide on and seat much nicer, and the caps go on easily without dragging on the O rings which can cut of shift them out of their...

I am kinda curious from people who have owned both PS and IDI ? MPG Reliabilty

A slightly different point of view: PowerStroke 7.3 was phased out of production in 2003, replaced by the TPOS 6.0. [if you have one and like it, no insult intended]. 2003 to 2013 = 10 years ... The 10 year out of production limit is one Ford [and about everyone else] uses to stop active...

My truck has the stock paint, should I leave it?

Scuff it with 400 wet or dry [wet sand it lightly] and spray a coat of clear to save the paint and patina of the "worn look", but the clear will make it "fresh".

    (federal) what do i have?

Can't see the second set of pictures.. wish I could. However, after a bit of looking I believe you have the front fender [maybe both?] , hood, doors, and grill for a 1934 Federal. Federal has been making trucks for a long time, but the headlight mounted on the fender and the fender shape...

    Another Moment In time Reached

Being the token hand model for the Brotherhood Of Oilburners, you must keep those hands in good shape with daily exercise, after all... :rotflmao :rotflmao On a more serious note, thanks for all you do.

    Superduty intercooler question

I use mineral spirits to desolve oil. Pretty cheap, available at any paint department since it's use as paint thinner for oil based paints, and it doesn't leave much residue. Cap one end with a plumbing rubber cap, put a gallon of mineral spirits in the other inlet, cap it.. and slosh the IC...

ZF 6 speed 4x4 trans for sale

This just came to me this afternoon, thought I should pass it along. Buddy offered me a ZF 6 speed 4x4 transmission from a 2003 7.3 diesel F350, for $800. It has about 196,000 miles on it. It does NOT have the transfer case with it. Bare transmission.. no clutch or flywheel. The transfer...

09- 10 seats in an older truck??

Go to your local pick & pull and look for a late model truck with bucket seats that has an adapter plate under them. The plate you want has the bench seat bolt pattern on the bottom set of holes and the bolt pattern for the late model bucket seats on the top, with a center console , for a...

    Drilling a 460 ZF5

QUESTION: We have several folks who have drilled the 460 ZF trans to fit the 6.9 adapter plate, I have a 460 ZF trans [fresh rebuild, setting in reserve] so I have "skin in the game". Has anyone tried a 460 adapter plate against the back of the 6.9 Diesel engine? Is it possible, the bolt...

Front wheel bearing in a 4x4?

Each front hub has 3 bearings .. not just 2... If I'm seeing the picture right.. it's likely the drive shaft carrier bearing which mounts in the back of the wheel spindle [hope I got that part name right] has given up. So far.. every one I've pulled off has not been serviced properly.. or...

Ugliest truck I have ever owned. Parting out 1988 F-Superduty

18.5 x 49 would give you 57 gallons each tank.... or a total of 114 [presuming you left no free space at top.. With the 16 gallon rear tank.. and if it still has the under cab tank.. you are talking some serious legs... no wonder it needed a sleeper.. ha.. No worries on the load control...

http://www.calculatorsoup.com/calculators/construction/tank.php 13 inches by 26 inches = 16.09 gallons could easily have tanks longer and go to 30 gallons a side. But.. at todays fuel prices.. who could afford to fill them... Sheeesh.. bump.. I'm still in for the brake load control...

    Slick idea found on CraigsList

Drive out from under the bed.. When you put it back on, close is good enough.. you can scoot the bed into place to line up the bolt holes easily by hand once it's setting on the frame. I like the idea that ford350man had.. just use ratchet straps to each corner pocket and bring them all...

    Slick idea found on CraigsList

Just came across this posted on CraigsList. Thought I should pass it along. How many here have struggled with the problem of working on the fuel tanks and or pulling the bed to get to them [bed off.. it's a piece of cake, but how do you get 4 guys together to lift it off.. then again to lift...
