    Custom turbo questions

I've been looking at IDI 6.9 /7.3 engines now for the nearly 8 years I've been a member here, and before that I owned a couple of 99 and up PSD's... If you look at the exhaust manifolds on the late model PSD you'll see the up pipes going to the turbo are "up" right out of the exhaust manifolds...

    Dana 60 question

Just located a Dana 60 complete front axle with everything I want to do 2WD to 4WD conversion on my 92 CC DRW, 7.3 truck... except... the Dana 60 is off a Single rear wheel truck. Question: What has to be changed to make the wheel spacing correct for Dual rear wheel, front wheels and use this...

E350 van rear end with disc brake on F350, possible?

http://www.fordmann.com/F350.rear_disc_brakes.htm Search of the interweb pulled this up.. at least someone has done it.. looks like it's NOT a simple "bolt up the parts and you're good" conversion... However.... 99 to 2001 vans used disc rear brakes AND SAE lug spacing not metric, with...

E350 van rear end with disc brake on F350, possible?

Can't go the newer power stroke route.. after 98, Ford went to Metric lug spacing so nothing else fits. That's exactly why I was hoping I could use a van rear end.. or perhaps just the backing plate with parking brake inside the disc hub, and have all the parts "just bolt up"... maybe without...

E350 van rear end with disc brake on F350, possible?

I seem to recall some time back, a mention of using the Van rear end with non metric bolt pattern and rear disc brakes for a swap into F250/350, but my search skills fail to call it up.. So... Anyone done this? .. Remember the thread? ... If it can be done, what doesn't fit/work on the truck...

    Fan change

I would suggest you put the proper fan shroud on the radiator and use the stock fan with a properly working fan clutch. It is all sized for the engine to keep it in proper temp operation limits by engineers at Ford on a big budget to make it work right. If your fan clutch is working right...

    Drum Brake Adjustment Tips

Add to your list a spring kit for the backing plate. While you have it all apart, replace all the little bits inside that come in the spring kit. Few dollars now saves a lot of pain later and you end up with better brakes. I clean the hell out of the adjustment screw and lube it with copper...

    Bed bolts

All the beds I've looked at closely had a sleeve in the hole for the bed bolt. The wide area head clamps down on that sleeve which is welded in place in the channel that runs cross frame on the bed and that makes for full clamping action. If you've had a bed that the channel was crushed then...

    Bed bolts

So, after reading everyones posting, I still don't find who to go to to get the 97 and up bed bolts with the frame clips. I really like those, would like to have a couple sets. For those who have a little welding talent to make a tool, and a cherry picker, this tool makes bed removal a one...

    Banks power Drain tube leak

I have the same setup on the new [to me] 92 F350 with turbo, however, I've not done a teardown on it yet [has blown head gasket, so I'm "going there"]. My judgement says the gasket that fits the flange on the tube, not the one with a square hole in the center.. however.. I'm only guessing the...

    Banks power Drain tube leak

If the gasket is the problem, why not make a new one from gasket material that matches the old material? If you hold the piece of gasket material in place over the flange you have and tap it with a small ball peen hammer around all the edges, it will print a perfect outline of the new gasket...

    86 f250 6.9 rebuild/refresh advice and questions

What's "off" is you are missing some flat black paint at the very top of the grill which covers up the top edge of the chrome visible under the lower edge of the hood. Run a line of tape across the chrome that you want to see, mask the rest of the grill so you don't get flat black paint on...

    comments about your ZF5 failure

Thanks for clearing that up. After reading the previous posts I thought I had missed something when I looked at the parts manual and overhaul manual, cause I saw no oil pump as a separate item. The gears pump oil.. starting with the input shaft... not the tail shaft.. got it now...

    comments about your ZF5 failure

I thought I had a good set of pictures and overhaul manual for the ZF5 transmission, and I don't recall anywhere in that seeing a "transmission oil pump" .... Edumacate me please... Is there one, and what does it look like... "Show me" if you would... Picture would be nice.

    comments about your ZF5 failure

On the subject of failures... I don't have one "yet" but may have one in the making. Went to check oil level in the transmission and found the fill / check plug can't be unscrewed... put a 3 ft breaker bar on it.. still would not budge.. Anyone have any tricks on how to get it out? I would...

Engine to normal temp and running .. why do glow plugs cycle?

Need some help on this one please. Drove the 92 F-450, 7.3 across town this afternoon [about 10 miles in rush hour traffic so I know it was up to temperature..] Pulled into the drive and noticed the amp gage was reading low and pulsing like it does when glow plugs cycle. Turned key off...
