Mines unplugged. My truck is a hunting truck though and I don't want the extra noise. Now a headlights are on warning chime, that would be swell. PO of my truck purposely removed the ducting for the air cleaner. I asked him why he said to get more air! I replied uh, more HOT air?
I kinda figured but wanted to pick you'alls brains. It just had me stumped like what the heck it ran perfect last week. I'll do some testing and report back.
Yup, disconnected the batteries. When I reconnected them didn't hear any snap, crackles or pops. And she ran great for a couple days so there's that. I'll check for toasted links though.
That's what's got me so stumped. I literally only disconnected the batteries, swapped the starter and...
GP relay is good, just installed a new one last month. Same with new motorcraft glow plugs and connectors. Wait to start comes on, can hear gp relay click and they shut off after about 15 seconds(cold here in VA right now). Metered them just in case and they're getting power. There is a load...
Batteries were both purchased last year and have 12.6ish volts. Hmm didn't think to check the alternator as the batteries we both at full charge but I guess I could.
Hi folks,
94 NA with 220k, put in a new db electrical starter, ran and started perfect for a couple days. Have never had an issue with it starting before. Parked it and haven't driven it for a week, went out to start it and she won't start. Spins over fast, have excellent spraying fuel...
New starter installed finally. It's amazing the difference, had forgotten what a new one sounds like. Guess I got used to the worn out one. New one spins so fast makes me dizzy.
I'm pretty sure the OEM hubs have Warn guts. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Rock auto has a service kit, give em a call and see if they have hubs. There's also a few OEM hubs on ebay right now.
I've always wanted a diesel but they were always out of my price range. I'd been looking for a hunting truck for almost a year and it was hit or miss with the owners, you know how craigslist is. My dad who is a diesel mechanic had been helping me search and found the truck in my profile pic...
Update:
Turns out the issue was the ipr valve. My dads mechanic replaced it before he had the chance to run the truck with the scan tool. Also learned the ipr valve did initially throw a code, once, which his mechanic failed to tell him. After that it never coded again. My dad said the spring...
The only reason I take my stuff to a shop is the tire warranty only applies if a shop mounts, balances and rotates the tires. Before you keyboard warriors argue, I checked with the manufacturer (General). Having said that I've been taking my stuff to the same shop for years as well as my state...
Not to thread necro but just had my windshield replaced last night by local guy, $170 out the door. Dude was a pro with the trim, worked that crap off like it was butter. We chatted while he was doing it and said most safelite techs don't hang around long enough to learn all the little tricks...
I'm not sure which scan tool was originally used. I do know the shop he takes it to uses whatever scanner Ford uses as the mechanic that owns the shop used to work for Ford. The tuner my dad is running in his truck is the sctflash sctx4 which apparently can capture real time some of the data...
Well a bit more info. My pop says the voltage on the ficm hasn't dropped below 47 volts once. He says the only time the truck dies is when he's towing and the voltage hasn't dropped. Driving unladen the truck is fine. More info to come.
That's kinda a bummer. His issues make me appreciate the simplicity of my idi more and more. . Once he gets it figured out I'll report back. Be nice if someone else runs into the same issue
So my dad tried everything in Bismics post but so far no dice. His tuner does have the capability of monitoring ficm voltages and using the link you sent he's got it set to alarm if it drops below a certain voltage. He and his mechanic are leaning towards either a short or bad ground at this...
Hi folks,
Posting this for my dad, he doesn't internet. He has an 05 king ranch he uses for towing hay and equipment. It's been studded and chipped, not sure what else. He uses a tow tune when towing. He said today it just died on him while he was driving. He said he could barely get it...
