    6.0 possible injector issues

Just an fyi .................. You push the oil filter DRAIN VALVE to close it for the LPOP test. The anti-drainback valve is there to keep the oil filter housing full when you shut off the engine. The oil filter bypass valve in the standpipe is there if the filter plugs up. The oil cooler...

    06' 6.0 Oil Cooler

Good luck with it. I doubt that it is any better than the OEM, but to each his/her own. The OEM oil cooler issues are SOLELY due to the coolant system plugging and not the reliability of the oil cooler itself. If ANY plate type cooler has too much stress from thermal expansion forces (this...

    6.0 possible injector issues

I still suspect (gut feel since a lot was done before doing the first air test) a bad HPOP (or injector leaks). The air test is critical. I am sure you know this, but it is always better to air test w/ hot oil ... if possible. Also be sure to give it time to push the oil out before listening...

    Differences between 03 and 04?????

Early 04 - The cross over section at the rear of the intake manifold has been eliminated. Engine harnesses and glow plug harnesses for a 2004 can be difficult to ensure you get the correct one due to the changes. There are actually 3 versions of the 2004 model: 1. 2003 engine 2. Late 2004...

One bad battery can cause all kinds of issues. Fix that before anything else.

    6.0 possible injector issues

If the connector is fully plugged into the FICM, it is hard for me to believe that all of the wires in that harness are having issues. I guess it could happen.

    6.0 possible injector issues

Well said Crawler. OP - every mechanic I know has a spare (known to be good) FICM to use for testing. It is about the only way to identify a FICM w/ a bad logic board (ie install one known to be good and see if it resolves the issues). That said, most individuals aren't going to have one. In...

    6.0 possible injector issues

Probably already in a previous posts, but could you summarize which 4 they are? NM - I see it is 1,4,6,7 They all come from one connector and one drive module of the FICM. C1388A (X-1) Connector: Injector Control, Cyl. 1,4,6,7 (end plug 0 nearest the fire wall). It is either the FICM...

FICM's are frequently bad even though they show good voltage.

    6.0 possible injector issues

A bad HPOP can be intermittent. So can a bad/failing IPR.

6.0 headgaskets, oil cooler, stc, ARP studs w/cab on

Exactly right Crawler! The BPD air cooled oil coolers are nice, but they are too expensive for me! And what I have heard, you really should also get the cold weather package. Even the simple OEM cooler relocate kit is expensive. Keep the coolant maintenance up and the OEM coolers work fine...

    6.0 possible injector issues

I would add one thing - you could try running it w/ the ICP unplugged and see if it still does it. Also check wiring to IPR. Might even pull and inspect the IPR.

    EGR delete questions

According to the 2006 PC/ED manual (page 1-23), the MAF signal is used to calculate the Exhaust Gas Recirculation flow. Although the same manual states that it is input signals from the Baro, EBP, and MAP sensors that are used in the control of the EGR valve.

    Identify this oil pump

The iron one didn't make it into the 04.5's, just the 05 and up. 04.5 did get an upgraded pump to go along w/ the wavy oil rails, but it was still the "rounded guy". Over on another forum, a guy just recently posted about his 03 engine HPOP experience. It failed at 200k miles (so not bad)...

    EGR delete questions

... and I've seen them fail. Engine freeze plugs are a different application since they don't see the temperature extremes / fluctuations that the one end of an EGR cooler would see. I wouldn't do it, there are better ways. To each his own.

    EGR delete questions

Freeze plugs have been known to corrode away and then you have no more delete. I would go with something more permanent.
