Last Friday morning after work the ball joint/ tie rod end that the last owner of my truck fixed the clutch linkage with broke. Came to a stop sign pressed in the clutch and SNAP pedal on floor no clutch floated gears and got it home. Rigged it up to make it work for a few days until I could...
I was thinking to remove it a tool like a fuel line disconnect would work. Not having what I need at home and wanting to get the shaft out a small screw driver and some force freed the shaft. That slave has been sitting on the pile of spare parts so no big loss.
I will make up a few and if...
If I were to make up a few new shafts that fit in the slave cylinder and have a 3/8-24 thread on the other end that you could screw on a heim joint would anyone be interested in buying one?
Second question is there a easy way to remove that rod from the slave? I pulled on out and wrecked...
heat it up with a gas welding tip its easier to control the flame that way after you get it hot hit it with a blast of water the shock of the cold water helps brake them loose.
The solenoid I pulled out smelled burnt so thats why I figured it shorted out due to the fuel. I put in a new fuse and solenoid and the truck runs better than ever.
My truck must be a little different I have a big fuse block on the drivers side fender I had a huge 20A fuse blown. In the book it also shows there are fuses for trailer lights??
Thanks to everyone it is back up and running like it should. Now I just need to find one of those huge fuses...
hooked a wire from battery positive to solenoid it clicked so hooked it up direct still no start. Touched wire to solenoid again no click bad solenoid I figured so I pulled it off. The solenoid that I took off of my truck is cracked so fuel was getting in it and horted something out smells...
Wow fast to jump to conclusions! I said I would report what happens and this is part of it I guess.
As of right now I do not have power to the fuel shut off solenoid so that is why its not starting. I just did not have time to look at it before I had to get to work.
Went to start my truck to go to work last night nothing fired and ran for 2 seconds max if that. As a last resort I unplugged my glow plugs and gave it a small shot of starting fluid (this was a last resort something I never do) still nothing so I took the wife's car to work.
When I got...
TRUCK DID NOT START TODAY! ran glow plugs crank nothing run glow plugs again crank nothing. usualy if it dont start on first try it starts on second. third try fired ran 3 seconds died and wate to start light stayed on. i have manual glow plugs?
I have been fighting with my drum brakes getting tight since i had this truck. I adjust them and a few weeks later they are hanging up and I am just getting sick of fighting them. everything in my brake system is new EVERYTHING!
So I am sick of these stupid drum brakes had to looses them up again today.
Has any one on here did a disk brake conversion? If so how did you do it or is there a kit out there some where?
I replaced the automatic hubs on my 93 D60 ball joint axle and did not need the conversion kit.
If you want to just throw a different set of auto locking hubs on I have a set I took off my truck and will never use them. PM me if you want or need them we can work out a deal.
The winch will be in the bumper but I would have the receiver so I could slide in my pintle hitch to hook up the the trailer with the front of my truck so the trailer will not move around.
Finally got around to picking up my winch bumper and putting it on. Now I just need to find a winch. I think I am going to add a receiver mount to it so I can hook up to a trailer with the front of the truck and pull stuff on should work out good.
I drive my IDI because its simple, reliable and easy to work in and cheep to drive on WMO! If I had to drive a different truck it would be a OBS ford with the fuel injected 300 6 with a 5 speed I had a 93 f150 with that setup that was a great truck did everything I asked it to but I needed a...
