Any body in Oregon know about this truck?

A 2 maybe 3k truck went for 10k? That’s called a bidding war! Someone really wanted that truck. And it sure is nice and well taken care of, but not worth that amount of loot imo.

    Exhaust through hood?

Exhaust thru hood? If your going to turn this truck into a sled puller, sure do it. If not, you’ll probably change it back to stock at some point shortly after doing this. Not to mention now you got a nice round hole in the hood. Reminds me of a local guy in my area who mounted a 55 gallon drum...

Promar does not sleeve every 7.3 idi. When i called last year, the guy I talked to said sometimes they sleeve all 8, other times they sleeve a couple cylinders depending on the block. Very wishy washy. That’s when I hung up lol.

    Metal shavings in oil!

Cut that filter open and find out what’s going on.

    Leveling my 86

I really think the old springs were just worn. However, I do believe these are stiffer springs than stock. I haven’t ridden in truck since the install, but he says it rides so much better with these moogs in there. With the new springs, it pretty much sat level with the rear of truck. No more...

    Leveling my 86

My old rig doesn’t have any tire rubbing issues after the install but it does need to be professionally aligned. I noticed the passenger tire is wearing kind of funny. He had a cheap shop install the springs and wasn’t too impressed with their methods of alignment.

Got it! Moog CC844S. Spent around $80 on a front set thru eBay.

    Leveling my 86

I remember buying some moog HD springs for my rig about a year ago. I ended up selling truck to my father in law before I had the chance to put them on. Anyways, he got them installed and it raised the front end over 2 inches. Damn near sits level & always how I wanted it to look. I’ll see if I...

    Injection pump help needed!

R&D performance, Russ aka typ4, or Conestoga diesel fuel injection for injection pumps is the bees knees. Anywhere else, hate to say this, but it’ll likely be junk. Too many newbies have spent more $ finding this out the hard way, including myself years ago. It’s hard to justify spending $700...

I think the thinnest area between bore & water jacket on a standard bore 7.3 idi block is something like 140 thousandths. Gary @icanfixall would be a good guy to ask on this one. Don’t know about you, but that seems pretty thin to me. Would make sense as why cavitation happens so often with...

Just had my rear main seal replaced,

Seems like most of these idi’s will do that at some point with the original headgaskets. Very common. Mine seeped both coolant and oil for years at same locations (rear drivers/passenger side cylinder head) They never really blew out, just seeped all the time. I’m sure they would have if I ran a...

New springs will really help. Make sure that if you do replace them, go with the heavy duty spring type. Here’s another helpful article: http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/engine/0910dp-1987-ford-f250-buildup/

Looks like it’ll be due for new HG’s at some point soon.

Factory cam specs and propane questions.

Taking that much meat off the tops of these pistons is definately no bueno. I’ve heard .020 is ok but not much more than that. Mainly done to prevent potential interference problems during a performance build. This is an idi, not a di. They need high compression to work properly. Pretty sure...

    Ticking and Intermittent Valve Noises

With all the work it sounds like your about to do, go a little further and take the heads off. It’ll be much easier going that route if you can.

    Machine shop

Agreed. Why turn a 6.9 block into a cavitation prone engine? There’s not enough hp difference between the two engines either to justify doing that. I would have your machine shop bore it .030 over and see how the walls clean up. I think .060 is about max for a 6.9 block where you can sill find...

    Ticking and Intermittent Valve Noises

Yes the hylift lifters I bought a while back were around $140 for a set if I remember correctly. And yes, both the hylift and sealed power branded lifters have needle roller bearings. Go with the sealed power pushrods from rockauto.

    C6 tranny

Good point. My transmission rebuilder recommended using dextron III/Mercon in it after he rebuilt my C6, and said it was a much better fluid to use even in transmissions that require type F. Also looking at the original trans dipstick in my 87 idi before I sold it, it said dextron III/mercon...

I’ve done business with Vic’s harbor machine shop in Sacramento. Good group of guys but my cylinder heads had to be redone shortly after they rebuilt them unfortunately. Don’t know of any real reputable shops in the sac area but sure you can find one. I had a local machine shop properly rebuild...

I used to get around 16 mpg on the highway in my idi with C6. That was going around 65 mpg highway with 3:55 gears. Put 3.08’s in it and sold rig shortly after to father in law who regularly gets around 18-19 mpg. Good transmission.

    Ticking and Intermittent Valve Noises

I’ll shine a little light on this issue since I delt with this before when I rebuilt my engine from hell a while back. If you have a consistent chuffing sound, turn off engine and pull valve covers. Put pressure on each of the rockers towards the top (where the oil hole is) with your hand. If...

    Ticking and Intermittent Valve Noises

Enginetech lifters are complete junk. They are very crudely made and ended up returning a set because of how they looked. Go with either sealed power lifters or Johnson hylift. PM me if you want a slightly used set of sealed power lifters. They have about 150 miles on them so they are still...

Just go for a 4" lift kit.

Get those cinder blocks out of there before they kill someone. That’s asking for something bad to happen.
