Will Donaldson ELF 7405 fit 7.3 idi?

Wix filters are good. That’s all I know about them lol. I’ve used Auto-rx in the past with so so results. You have to give it time, lots of time. And it still might not work as well as other additives. Auto-rx made a slight difference in my idi, and no difference in my Yj. Not to mention it...

Sometimes the brake lines will swell up when they get old, and that’ll cause all sorts of problems. I bet your problem is something simple that the other shop looked over. But hey, if your set on doing a disc brake conversion, do it. I don’t think it will stop any better, but it’ll certainly be...

    Truck runs rough

That’s a nice truck. I would buy it for that price. You’ll just have to expect to spend more $ on it once it’s in your possession, like any other vehicle lol.

    Truck runs rough

Sounds like one heck of a good deal, but it probably needs a new injection system (IP, injectors, & return line kit). I wouldn’t trust another used set, as that’ll probably be junk as well. It’s a fairly easy job but you need to buy these injection components from a reputable dealer. Conestoga...

Still think something was not installed correctly. Look at all the semi trucks that use drums on all 18 wheels. Yeah they are a pain in the ass to change out, but they do work quite well. Me thinks the wheel cylinders might be locking up.

If that’s what’s really happening to your rear drums, than your not doing something right during installation. They work quite well when set up correctly.

    Fix? Need advice, please

Unfortunately the E40D is somewhat of a pos transmission to begin with, and very expensive to rebuild. If you do decide to have it rebuilt, you’ll really need to make sure the shop knows what they are doing. Having said that, money is money. Whether you keep your current truck, sell it and buy...

    7.3 idi 1993 sclb 300-400hp

Someone needs to find a way to add a 200hp chip to these engines! I love the question, can’t I just add a tuner? LOL

    Radiator advice?

Had a champion 3 row rad in my f250 when I owned it. Never got hot and worked quite well. Currently got a champion on my Jeep yj and all is well with not even the slight hint of it ever overheating.

    7.3 idi 1993 sclb 300-400hp

Then your probably better off going back to your 6.0 psds. You aren’t going to get an easy and cheap 160 additional hp from an idi.

Odd ticking on my "93 idi na

Probably normal. Cummins engines are notorious for doing that when turning the engine off.

    IDI 1/4 mile times

1/4 mile runs, really? Who would bother bringing these old rigs to the drag strip. That’s like asking a corvette owner to go rock crawling in Moab. They weren’t made for that stuff. My guess on a 1/4 time would be sometime before the next century comes around.

    Question for upcoming 6.9 build

550hp from an a 30 year old idi engine? LOL. You won’t even get that much power from a new 60k diesel truck right off the dealership floor. All your questions are pretty much no lol. 2k rpm from a t19 with 3:55 gears at 80mph? You’ll be well over 3k rpm with that combo. Looks like you need to...

T19 only grinds going into 4th gear

Double clutching is easy once you get the rhythm down. It should go right into gear without grinding if you do that. That’s what I do with all my old tractors that don’t shift worth a crap.

Rebuild engine with rust in coolant, worth it.

Hot tank it and get it inspected. I’m sure it’s a good candidate for a rebuild.

    Any help identifying this tick?

Don’t do this unless you want every seal and gasket to start leaking. This is not a good idea and don’t know why someone would even recommend doing this. These engines have a free flowing CDR for a reason, and kinking the line does nothing good for your engine, nor does it solve any problems cookoo.

Are Fel pro head gasket graphite?

Don’t know what exactly what they are made of, but I think there is multiple layers of steel that are bonded together with some type of graphite. Like macrobb said, they are good gaskets and highly recommended for these engines.

    double stacked gaskets?

Lowering compression on a indirect injected diesel is typically not recommended. There’s no need to double stack gaskets on any engine. These engines need lots of compression for them to run well. And why do you think you need to lower compression? If it’s because your adding a turbo, there’s...

MMO is good stuff. Run that stuff in every engine I own. Both gas & oil. Just might do the trick for ya.

Whats do you think,1986, 6.9, f350, 50k original firetruck value?

Let’s see some pics! Sounds like a good deal, but they run them engines hard. Start em up, let them warm up for a half second, and shove throttle to the floor. Not the best for an engine, but I’m sure it was regularly maintained.

6.9 decked .05 bored .40 over want to run boost!!

Like mentioned, you will be fine if the shop went by the book in regards to specs, which I’m pretty sure they did if it was a reputable shop. Maybe you can call them just to verify, but you don’t need to shave pistons unless you got a hot cam in it. You can safely run about 13 lbs boost before...

    Ignition "thing" Broke

Time for a push bottom start! They always do that. Seems like they click on okay, but once you turn it more to activate starter, they all eventually break at some point in time.
