Ok guys Ive been searching online and this website for answers or a wiring diagram to help figuring out the tow wiring on my 87 f350. I believe this is the factory tow harness.
There was a lot of bad and crazy wiring on this thing and I ripped out the funky old brake controller earlier this...
Got trans installed and made a custom cross member from the two I had to accommodate the zf5. Also attached the 4x4 shifter and made a hole and installed the boot. Also got the used flat bed set up and starting to rework it.
Oh and installed the pedals and clutch master cylinder.

Pulled the steering column and seats and carpet today in prep for the zf5 swap.
I find it much easier to access the pedal assembly with out the seats and carpet in the way. Also frees up the trans tunnel area.
Not to mention give me a chance to give the interior a good wash
Hopefully...
Finished the 38 gallon gas tank swap today. Extended the pick up and extended the float. Also shortened the long t case shifter from my e40d so it will hopefully work with my zf5.

Just used a radiator from napa. Has aluminum core and plastic tanks. All brass was going to be about $500 or more. So this was about $200 I think

Haha. Stupid autocorrect. "Both" I ended up replacing the transfer case with a refurbished one that actually has a provision for the speedo cable my 87 body requires.
Now I'm going about the business of finishing painting the frame and fix leaking oil pan before I pop in the zf5. I'm so close...
Yeah I'm really not sure. It's leaking but just barely. So I'm leaning towards running it for now. Are miot transfer cases the same size? I'm going to need to have my drivelines modified and I don't want to do them twice when I replace it.

Decided both of Anna were rusted junk so I ditched the side tank for now and ordered a 38 gallon rear tank.
Today I yanked out the e40d and mounted my questionably Pitts transfer case to my zf5.
One question on the rear main seal, dies this piece come off of the crank???
Last pic.

Yes o ordered two different parts total for both about 350?
$145 isn't bad for adjusting the drive shafts but I may look through the wreckers for exactly what I need if it's cheaper. I've already dumped 6 grand into my truck so what's another few hundred??

I'm curious to see what you do with the driveline. I ordered the luk clutch conversion set on rock auto for 289 and got the master slave kit too.
Watching and learning thanks for going first haha.

So were they the top left and top right wires in the connector in the picture?
I'm assuming so, but sometimes it easier just to know the location and not rely on the colors :)
Thanks!

ISPKI, I'm going to be waiting on that picture!
I'm doing this swap in a week or two. I'm bummed to hear that the super duty cross member won't work because thats where I grabbed my zf5 from..... Good info here. I think the wiring is the biggest challenge for me. Keep the progress coming...
I added brand new front leafs and an ad a leaf. Should mention though, the truck already has a 3" body lift to help clear the turbo without hammering out the firewall.

Finished installing front brakes, trackbar and steering arms. Getting that trackbar in was harder than I thought to line up. Finished rear brakes too just need to bleed and adjust.
Finally installed wheels and tires 35-12.5-17 I'm happy with them. Truck sits pretty high hope I can get back...
