Ok, im on the verge of having to swap out a rear diff on my '89 F-250; durn thing is banging and clanking like a D9 Cat. Currently it has a 4.10 with a 5 speed which Id like to keep that way. I need to know which year differentials will swap in, with NO problem.... So yall feel free to chime in...
Thanks guys. One things I made sure of was the diff had plenty of grease... if I can't find one locally I'll make the five hour drive to SAN Antonio... I'll keep y'all updated.... BTW what years can interchange?????
Hey crew got a problem. Old Bessy my 89 F-250 has developed a clanging noise whenever I shift gears. Doesn't happen every time , but enough I had to check it out...,placed the truck in neutral, chocked the tires and crawled under for a look see.... we I can twist the drive shaft and hear some...
Had one!! 54mpg! Not very peppy but I could pull the mountains of Santa Fe with a bed full of camping gear. With the a/c going it would only get 40mpg. & talk about rolling coal!!!
Limited success!! I replaced the clutch slave cylinder, but due to a raging case of arthritis, I was unable to bleed all the air out of the cylinder. But it's better than before! I will try at a later date to re install the cylinder whilst ensuring it is full! Have to pump the pedal a few...
Hey franklin2, I checked the fluid level, & it was ok. However the little fluid bladder was fully distended and did not collapse or fold back into the cap. I didn't appear low. Do I poured more fluid into the reservoir and let what ever left spilled over... Also how do I bleed the air out of...
No bushing play, the pedal moves the clutch fork abt 1/2". Everything looks ok on the outside. Took the bottom cover and wow! This don't look like a normal clutch set up.. may have to send it off to get repaired. Probably cost more than the pickups worth...any pearls of wisdom from the...
Thanks guys, I'm just concerned that my clutch engages when my clutch pedal clears the floor by millimeters. You just start letting up on the pedal and it starts moving. Not good in heavy traffic. I have to grab 2nd gear as I'm coasting to a stop. . I guess I'll look at the clutch rod and...
I have a hard time putting it in gear. Reverse is the worst offender and going through the gears isn't much fun. I know how to float the gears but this tranny is not set up for it. It started about 3 months ago and has getting worse incrementaly. Plenty of brake fluid in the master cylinder. I...
Fellow oil burners I need to adjust my clutch on 1989 F-250 w/ZF5 tranny. It has an external slave cylinder but I'm dumbfounded as to adjustments... I hope you can help me out! I have to park it amongst Mercedes and BMWs so as to give them a little class and I enjoy driving it. Gracias, su...
today my '89 decided it would not start. I thought the ignition switch was bad. Replaced it.... now I can't turn the key far enough to start. I do have the actuator rod properly placed in the switch but I think the actuator rod that runs from the key cylinder to the switch has come dismounted...
i used a vacuum gauge to measure my 89 7.3 n/a pump. Turns out it topped (bottomed) out at 22" of vacuum. Is this sufficient for this unit? The reason I ask is because I can get 2 good stops on my brakes before it starts to get difficult to depress the brake pedal again. New master...
Driving back from work 52 miles away; I'd forgotten about the cardboard in the grille I found my temp gauge pegged after 10 miles. Pulled over , opened the hood and let that 45 mph wind cool off the engine. Later, roustabouts drive by and offered to refill my radiator... I get home flush the...
I hit a 6 point buck going 85 to back up another officer .. 2016 Silverado with a grill guard . still managed to save the left front fender everything else was toast. $6,000 damage. Got a discount because our department is a regular customer!!!
