    Pulling a C6 transmission

When I pulled mine, I dropped the back of the transmission as low as it would go and used a long extention and maybe a swivel if needed. Just make sure you have 1 or 2 of the lower bolts in so the transmission doesn't have the chance to slide off. Edit: mine was a zf5 though. It might be...

    1985 6.9 Project

Are you trying to shift the transfer case with the transmission in gear? If so its possible the clutch isn't fully disengaging causing the input shaft to spin a little bit.

    1985 6.9 Project

Movement means it needs rebuilt, if the impeller or turbine moved enough to hit the housing where they have been rubbing, then it would probably be best to look for something in better shape Edit: a good turbo will have a small amount of movement for the oil clearance.

New member, first idi. Too slow. Turbo time

I would recommend getting a used turbo kit then either rebuilding it yourself or having someone rebuild it for you. Classicdieseldesigns.com is the one I used to upgrade my turbo

    1985 6.9 Project

Look for movement on both the impeller and turbine, side to side, up and down and in and out and make sure it spins freely. Look for oil inside the impeller/turbine, damage indicating something has gone through tjmhe turbo (bent fins, scratch marks inside, missing chunks) and make sure...

There is a write up for the upgrade in the tech section. There are 2 different types of the repair kit. One for the small bored boosters, one for the large bore booster https://www.ebay.com/itm/224070575918 https://www.ebay.com/itm/223816807969 I'm not sure what year the cutoff is for the...

Complete Super Duty Hydroboost system cost thoughts from anybody who's done it

What i did is buy a Cardone rebuild booster off ebay then had to buy a "repair kit" that is also available on eBay since the rebuilds do not come with the output shaft and spring, I found the 2 port power steering pump off of rockauto, and the hoses off rockauto. For the brake pedal, I just...

    Bullet glow plug ends?

I used 3.5mm or 4mm silicone vacuum hose to hold the bullet connector on the glowplugs. The 3.5mm will hold tighter but the 4mm will be easier to work with.

It is possible to unhook your glowplugs and run it so long as you cover the end of the cable. At least unhook them and see if you still have a massive draw or not

Differences between the 6.9 and the 7.3.

Most bolt on parts for the 6.9 and 7.3 are the same except for the long block. The 7.3 has the benefit of 1/2" head bolts instead of 7/16 on the 6.9. This allows the heads to resist lifting better allowing better boost thus more power. The injection systems between the two are almost identical...

    Just started my 7.3* build

Since you have the engine out, I would at least pull the bearing caps and inspect them for damage and wear. A worn out set of bearings will still have the engine spin smoothly unless there is significant damage.

Grinding in reverse when letting clutch out - zf5

I had similar issues of grinding sounds in a cj5. It turned out to be failing internally which caused the transmission to lock up on me. So if you have eliminated all external issues (motor mounts, transmission mounts, exhaust pipes and other items smacking into things) i would look at the...

E40d to ZF5 conversion parking brake?

As far as I know, in the f-350s, the park brake is in the wheels and the f-superduty had a park brake assembly attached to the back of the transmission in place of a transfer case. Edit: if you do have a f superduty, a 4x4 zf5 should be able to bolt up to your park brake assembly.
