    New transmission time

Yeah, been through a divorce over the last couple years. It wasn't too bad actually both of us were mature and reasonable, and no lawyers were involved. My biggest concern is my 5 year old daughter, and making sure she has an as good or better childhood than she would've had if we stayed...

    New transmission time

So I heard from the transmission rebuilder this morning, regarding the sealant over the plug. I questioned wether or not the plug was replaced, and if they just smeared sealant over it. They confirmed that the plug was indeed replaced, and the sealant is an added precaution that they normally...

    New transmission time

Trans is back and reinstalled in the truck. Hard to tell if they replaced the plug or not, as they covered it in sealant. I sure hope they didn't just band-aid it with a halfassed repair. I needed the truck running so I chanced it. Time will tell...

    new clutch and new noises

The one on the left is the standard duty that I installed to eliminate my noise. The one on the right is the heavy duty one that made all the noise. You can see the standard duty has a total of 10 springs, while the HD has 8. Hope that helps some. If what came out is identical to what went...

    new clutch and new noises

How many springs in the hub of the friction disc? Here are photos of what I found. the disc with the fewer, larger springs, is marketed as a HD clutch, and causes TONS of rollover noise, but doesn't really hurt anything. The disc with more, smaller springs makes it as silent as the original...

    New transmission time

Anyone seen this type of issue on a ZF5 before?

    New transmission time

Well, it's not an input shaft seal...it's a case plug that is leaking.

    New transmission time

No front pump...this one is a ZF-5. I think they either forgot the oil slinger, or the input shaft bearing is a little loose. I'll know more when it comes out tomorrow.

    New transmission time

Update: Trans is coming out AGAIN tomorrow. It'd developed a pretty steady leak out of the input shaft seal. Its not over filled at all, just seems to dump oil out the front no matter what I do. It's going back to the remanufacturer for repair on their dime. I'm getting both really sick...

    ATS CD-R tube picture

Here are a few quick shots from my truck. It's the same layout as an 093 kit as far as I know. If you need more detailed photos, I can pull the airbox tonight and get better shots.

    Windshield wiper arms

Stock 1996 arms were a direct swap onto my truck, and have the hook style end, rather than the pin style. They do NOT however, flex and stand off the windshield on their own for those frosty mornings. I installed them to benefit from the better wiper blade technology that only seems to have...

    BWD gp controller issue

Played that game once. Ended up with a motor craft unit from Ford to make it right. I may still have a take off if you want to try it.

    Battery tenders

I use one as my truck sits for weeks at a time year round. I had a battery tender brand crap out, and despite their advertised 10 year warranty and a production date sticker on my charger, they wouldn't honor the warranty without a receipt. I've switched to a ctek unit that I like much...

turbo install, do i put anything on the cast joints on a factory setup

I've had excellent luck using a little stove pipe cement on the casting just prior to assembly. you have to be careful not to get it inside the up-pipes, as it'll dry hard and could wreak havoc on the turbo if it comes loose and gets into the wheel though. I used some on both my old used 088...

    Interior Color Change

It's really not that bad. The hardest part is hoping that the 20-30 year old plastic hasn't become so brittle that it turns to dust when you touch it! Go slow and easy and you'll be fine. strip the dash as much as possible, and wash it several times to get any and all armor-all or whatever...

    Disappiontment In The Mountains

Need pyro location, boost numbers, timing numbers, etc. to make a good judgement overall. You may be a good candidate for an intercooler- it made a world of difference on mine. I used to tow frequently through the NM and CO mountains, albeit not a giant 5er, but I was and still am happy with...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Mine got one new battery. Went out to start it, and hadn't had it on the battery maintainer in like 3 weeks. It wouldn't even crank. Tested batteries, and both were low, so on the charger they went. Passenger side took a charge and passed a load test fine. Drivers side came up with a dead...

Should I be worried? (exhaust close to oil pan)

If its still got the factory flares on the ends where it attaches to the manifold/up pipe, you may be able to loosen the collars and rock it back a little to increase that clearance. As I remember I had a similar issue with my old 088 system and was able to manipulate it a bit.

    Pintle Free Injectors

I had a set of the DPS injectors for a short time. They were absolute shit. As sychostang said- rough idle, tons of smoke, and no real power increase. I think the pintle serves an important role in making the fuel usable. If it's not atomized, it's hard to get a complete burn in the combustion...

    Pre roadtrip checklist?

The power tank works just like a high volume air compressor. The only issue it has is the fittings might freeze up if you use a real high CFM tool like an orbital sander. The power tank ones use a special regulator that isn't as susceptible to freezing as a regular soda dispenser or the like...

    Pre roadtrip checklist?

Since most of my trips involve dragging my trailer with either my Supra or my Rockcrawler to some sort of event, I usually have a bunch of tools with me. I've found that rather than a 12V air compressor, my Powertank (just a 10lb bottle of CO2) is a much better source of compressed air. CO2...
