I’ll be pulling some loads with my truck later today. I can get a short video of it idling and post it so that you have a close idea to what noises these engines make. Granted I haven’t got mine timed with a meter yet, but I did play with the timing for about a month until I found the spot with...
That’s interesting. I’ve never seen dual timing marks like that before. You could line up the two marks on the side and see how that runs. Although that would retard the timing, and you engine seems to already have the signs of retarded timing. Personally, if it was my truck, I would advance the...
The entire pump rotated when adjusted the timing. For the amount of movement needed to get the timing marks lined up, you may have to loosen the injector lines a bit to move the pump
This is just a thought I had, but the added power you are feeling from the dual lift pumps could be a combination of the fact that the Ip is getting plenty of fuel, and possibly because the Ip timing got slightly advanced because of higher transfer psi. Either way though, that’s awesome that...
Today I hauled another couple loads of greenwaste with my truck and trailer. I’m making around $400 a week, and probably a total of 6-8 is all the time i spending hauling each week. Not bad for a side job :Thumbs Up:joker:
If your cooler failed, I would expect to see oil in the coolant, not coolant in the oil. This is because there’s around 50 psi for the oil, and only around 8-12 psi for the coolant in the cooler, therefore the oil would go into the coolant because it’s at a much higher pressure. At least that’s...
One way of telling if the injector line has been over torqued is by simply examining the cone tip of it. Here is an example:
It is kinda hard to see, but the line on the left is damaged to the point it leaks pretty bad, while the line on the right is in decent shape and probably wouldn’t leak at...
It’s possible that you’re leak is coming from the clamp seal where the injector line meets the injector. If the 5/8 cap on the injector line gets torqued down too hard, it can damage the clamp seal and compromise the seal of the line to the injector because the extra torque deforms the cone part...
That is rather a mystery. The rich smelling white smoke would imply that the injection pump is getting plenty of fuel, and yet the fact that the engine dies after a few seconds tells me, just from my personal experience, that the injection pump isn’t getting fed fuel and is just consuming the...
I have to agree with this. I’m running 3inch from the turbo back, and it’s actually pretty quiet. I’m about to got to a full 5 inch straight pipe after the downpipe. This should make the sound in the cab quieter, and it will make the exhaust throatier and have a lower note
Welcome to the Forum!
To me it sounds kinda like your electric fuel pump is on its way out. What brand of electric pump did you use?
My truck came to me with a Mr. Gasket 5-7 psi electric pump, and I had the exact same issue until the pump finally just quit working period
They do have some issues with tires with certain tread patterns. Also, maybe I just got lucky with the quality of my set:dunno also, we do run them on all our snowplow rigs and all but one of our tow rigs. But I do have to agree with you @chillman88. It is good to keep in mind they are remolded...
I vote you keep the 35s, although for city driving you might get better mileage with 33’s.
my favorite tire brand is Treadwright. They offer free shipping on all their tires, they are unbeatable in the snow and mud, they have a super good warranty system, and the tires are only $169 each, that...
That’s more than I didLOL my truck just got to work today, and the only thing I did to it was “fix” the ac/heater selector by slipping the cable back onto the blend door leverLOL
I think Wes did a write up on injector installation. I’m pretty sure it was right around 35 ft-lbs as well.
Although, I must admit, I most certainly am a hoodlum and just tightened mine down :joker:
