I mounted it on the frame rail right inform of the front tank. And yeah, the mechanical pump is bypassed, it was bypassed when I got the truck and I’ve stuck with electric pumps since
Well, I installed the 105p this morning, and installed part of my new 4 inch exhaust, then took off to Fallon for the railroad ties. The truck runs amazing!!! It was a 220 mile round trip and the beast hauled like a pro. 60-70 mph whole way home with 6000 pounds of ties on the trailer. Boy do...
Neither actually :joker: they are going to be the foundation for on of those big barns with a vinyl roof and sides. Although a few weeks ago we did get a bunch of ties for fence. Only we have a hydraulic railroad tie pounder that mounts on a backhoe:Thumbs Up. It’s kinda cheating but it sure...
Thank you guys for all the input!!:) tomorrow I’ll just put it in without the regulator and drop the timing a hair. From my experience I’ll just need to shave 3 degrees or so off the timing and then I’ll see how it pulls. I’ll get a Holley regulator as soon as I can and put that on when I have...
Hey guys, I’m just looking for some opinions on weather it’s dangerous to run the mr. gasket 105p diesel pump without a regulator? Or is that asking for trouble? Hopefully someone knows the answer because I have to install my pump tomorrow morning
Today I officially rolled the odometer past 300,000!
Also I ordered a wicked wheel from Justin and a new Mr. Gasket 105p fuel pump. I was gonna get an upgraded turbo from @Thewespaul, but then I hauled a real heavy load and can no longer justify spending much on the stock turbo after seeing...
Ok, never mind :joker: I was wrong. It appears the only way to change timing is by messing with the timing chain, which I don’t think is a probable issue in your case. Sorry if I caused any confusion, I should probably just stick to what I know LOL
I don’t know much about psd 7.3s, but I read on a different forum about a guy who’s 99’ psd was having turbo issues because of timing. But again, I know hardly anything about powerstrokes
I think that your rig should be just fine with that with that amount of weight after you get the proper gauges. I’ve been towing 6 days a week with my gross weight varying from 10,000- 21,500 pounds.
Well, I actually did this with my truck yesterday, but I didn’t have time to post anything :joker:
Yesterday after work I picked up 3.5 yards of topsoil for a client in my dump trailer. I didn’t know how much weight it was until I got home and ran the numbers, but it was close to 9500 pounds of...
All I did with my truck today was gain a new appreciation for the mechanical beast. I took a load of junk to the dump in my boss’s “ranch truck”, which is a 92’ f250 4x4 with a 460 under the hood. That thing is GUTLESS! With 1000 lbs on the flatbed, it could barely hold 60 mph on the freeway...
Today I took my mom out for a ride on the horses. Loaded, the trailer was around 8000-8500 pounds. The truck did great! Only hard spot was pulling a 9-10 % grade at 53-55 mph. I bounced off 1180 on the pyro at the top of the grade, and the turbo was riding the wastegate at 11 psi. It’s always...
I think that’ll work fine. And yes, I would still suggest supporting the trans when you pull the engine because a great deal of the weight in the front of the tranny is supported by the engine, so when you pull the engine it loses its support. Unless it’s supported, the front of the transmission...
I actually just ran across a picture of the first one I pulled. I used our tractor for pulling it that time, and being a newbie then, I left the turbo on which made it a lot harderLOL
I’m sorry man, that really sucks that your engine went out on you. I’ve swapped 3 7.3s, and each time I just removed the radiator, fan, and turbo. Then unbolted the zf5 and engine mounts and pulled it forward off the input shaft and then straight up and out. All the times I’ve done it I’ve left...
