Signs sounds of to much advance in my ip?

It is hard to time an idi by ear with any accuracy, due to different fuel qualities and the fact each engine has its own unique quirks. If you run a fuel lubricant or cetane booster, it can drastically reduce the clatter of the engine, and therefore timing by ear is very hit and miss due to the...

Signs sounds of to much advance in my ip?

From what I know, if timing is way to advanced, it can damage the top end of the engine (valves, pushrods, valve springs and such) Is your rig making noticeable more exhaust smoke now?

So what did you do with your truck today?

I guess I have to get intercooled here pretty quick for the sake of both our rigsLOL

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yeah, most of the Cummins guys I’ve met are the same way. I let a couple of them drive my rig once and they couldn’t believe it was an idi. They thought it was a tuned out 12 valve LOL

So what did you do with your truck today?

I ordered a CDD 90cc pump for my idit last night. My cheapo Diesel Care and Performance pump is having hot start issues, and I wanted upgrade my pump anyway so it can keep up with my gtx 3582 turbo from Wes. Can’t wait to see how it performs!:Thumbs Up

Cetane Booster beneficial in a 7.3 idi?

How much of your mix do you add per gallon of diesel?

Cetane Booster beneficial in a 7.3 idi?

From all that I know and have learned about cetane, it does do the exact opposite of octane

Cetane Booster beneficial in a 7.3 idi?

I never noticed a cetane number in the pumps. I will have to check next time I fill up

Cetane Booster beneficial in a 7.3 idi?

That is the stuff that got me thinking about cetane. I was having issues with my pump and Wes told me to run a heavy dose of Hotshots Diesel Extreme, and it seems to have solved my issues. I’ll just have to experiment, but I’m thinking about using a booster on a regular basis now

Cetane Booster beneficial in a 7.3 idi?

Hey guys, I’m interested in what cetane booster does for our trucks performance and mileage wise. I don’t know how much conversation there has been on this topic, but I haven’t been able to find much. I am just curious to hear your guys opinions and experience with cetane booster in idis. What...

    What else do you drive?

Other than my idi, I drive a 1993 dodge one ton 12 valve, an 2001 dodge 2500 24 valve, and a 2012 dodge 3500 6.7. The dodges didn’t pretty good for towing, but my idi is still my favorite by far. But, as is probably obvious, to drive trucks and not much else :joker:

I'm back in the IDI game!

I don’t know if this is any help, but I have a parts engine I’ve been trying to sell, but if you want I could just pull the rockers and pushrods and make you a deal on them. I don’t know if you need lifters but I have those too

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yup, it’s working. Wednesday I hauled 15,000 lbs of hay and when I was pulling the grade it got to the A of NORMAL. The radiator I have in it was advertised as a racing radiator, and it works really really well. Yesterday the hottest it got was the O of NORMAL. The truck is an absolute tow...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yesterday I put my new turbo from Wes to work. I hauled 16 tons of gravel in 4 trips. Our trailer weighs about 4000 lbs, and Each load was a heavy(exceeding) 4 tons. On top of that we live in the mountains and so I was pulling 7-8.5 % grades all day with that weight. I left the house at around...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I got a gtx3582 turbo from @Thewespaul and I installed it last night. I’ve got to say, I thought my truck was powerful before, it’s crazy powerful now! Wes did an amazing job!! I’ll be hauling hay tomorrow and 10 tons of gravel on Friday, so I will post som videos of the beast at work when I get...

Pump gear off, or losing my mind

Also, this can be a major factor, but where did you get your fresh pump and injectors from? Faulty components can cause symptoms very similar to incorrect timing

Pump gear off, or losing my mind

I would also recommend adjusting the pump towards the passenger side. It is way easier and less dangerous than messing with the gear. Also, from my experience building and tuning these engines, you are nowhere near a whole tooth off. If it the gear was out of position, I doubt you could get the...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I haven’t been on the forum for a few weeks, so this is kinda old news by now, but three weeks ago I installed my new wicked wheel on my stock turbo. That wicked wheel sure worked good for about a total of a minute thirty seconds :joker: Because the wicked wheel isn’t dynamically balanced with...
