Well, I think we were talking about hose, at least that what I has assumed. What is on my truck currently looks like it's tube in some places and hose in other places.
Thanks for that bit of info. Since I have no plans of using biodiesel, I guess there wouldn't really be any added benefit to the Viton hose. I guess it's good to know though.
McMaster Carr has Viton hose for almost $20/ft for the 5/16 size. I know that some people have used that to replace their fuel hose, but is it really that much better? I can't see spending that much on hose, I know that both Goodyear and Gates hose are significantly cheaper.
Doug, I had a question for you regarding the pump, from the website (http://facet-purolator.com/dura-lift-pumps.php) it shows that the pump you were selling is rated at 9-11.5 psi, and from what I understand is more than the engine needs. There are 2 other pumps on that website that are rated at...
So this is a diagram I came up with of my fuel system:
I guess the fuel system isn't complicated after making a diagram of it, but with all the hoses going everywhere it sure feels that way. As the diagram shows, after the tank selector valve, there are 2 manual selector valves, 1 for the...
I realize that the fuel system is not overly complicated per say, but I was just hoping to see if anyone had that schematic I was referring to. The schematic I saw included the wiring diagrams for the selector valve and sending units, that was one reason I was hoping that someone might have it...
I know how you feel. With my truck the PO put in 2 aux side saddle tanks controlled by 2 manual valves. I'm sure you can imagine the mess of fuel hoses underneath the truck. Before I start the process of tracking down an air inrusion I have come up with some type of diagram for how I think...
Does anyone have a fuel system schematic for our trucks? A couple years ago I found a pdf somewhere on the internet that looked like it came from the factory service manual that when into detail about the fuel system, but I can't find it anywhere. I already have the portion of the service manual...
Interesting to know. Hopefully I will have time to start digging into the fuel system this weekend. I'll try to post pics if I get the chance so you guys can see what I'm talking about. It may be possible that the Racor setup may have something to do with restricting the fuel flow.
That's how it was setup when I got the truck. The Racor unit has a filter on it with a clear bowl that attaches to it. I had assumed this is a common setup. No?
In case you can't find anyone that has one to sell, they can be found on ebay, I just purchased on not too long ago, the part # is E5TZ 7B200-A. They are a bit pricey, around $70-90 depending on where you buy it, that price is for NOS ones.
I do have several new Motorcraft fuel filters that I bought, right now I have a Wix on for about 6 months. One other thing that occurred to me is that when I replaced the Racor filter about the same time, the ones I ordered looked like they have been sitting around for awhile. The Racor unit on...
I checked the invoice from when I had the lift pump installed, and it looks like an Airtex was installed. I don't know if that means anything or not but I probably will start with making sure it's putting out the proper amount of fuel.
I haven't tried the other tank. 90% of the time I run it off the same tank since the rear one literally takes 1/2 hour to fill up. I always fill up at the same stations. It's been running okay on the existing fuel that was in the tank, today was the first time the condition started happening. I...
No lol, I live in Southern California, I don't think it ever gets cold enough here for fuel to gell up. It's about 50F degrees out right now. That's a reasonable guess though considering the temperatures the rest of the US is experiencing right now.
Today while I was driving on the freeway ~65mph the engine started running a little erratic as if it was being starved of fuel or something. After slowing down to 55mph or so the problem went away. The tank was between 1/2 and 1/4 when this happened so I topped it off, but that didn't change...
Actually I think they are rebuilt, I went there again, tried adding them to my cart and the cart shows that they have a core deposit. No I'm not planning on buying any, but I guess it's good to know nonetheless.
I came across what I was referring to a few months back when I was browsing the Motorcraft site to see what parts they still sell from my truck, I noticed the are selling heads, part # XU2Z-6V049-CARM

Pardon my ignorance, but are the NOS 6.9 heads (depending on year made) considered to be better than the current 6.9 heads being sold that are listed an the Motorcraft website? I'm just kind of curious as I have got the impression that there may be a difference in quality?
Thanks for letting us know about this. I just tried calling, Apparently they are closed until January 3rd. Hopefully they have more than 1 available. My truck has the Banks turbo setup from the late 80's and for some reason a boost gauge was never installed when it was turboed. I called Banks...
My F250 with a C6 and 3.55 gears has got up to 18mpg on the highway and probably averages around 12-15 in combined driving. Not bad at all in my book.;Sweet
I would love to buy it but I think it will be gone before I get the money. Feel free to go for it if you really want it. I would rather see someone here get it than a random person. If its still there in a week or so I will have my chance. There will always be another truck to buy, I'm not too...
I have to admit it is quite tempting. Knowing my luck by the time the next paycheck comes around it will be gone. I remember awhile back I saw a '86 CC 4x4 and that truck was only up on CL a day or two before it sold. At any rate it is a killer deal and I don't at all mind a project truck at...
