any 6.9 fuel water separator alternatives?

That's just a stock 6.9 filter head. He more than likely has that already if his truck is stock. It was only the 7.3s that had all the gadgets in the filter head. Rock

    Recirculating Return Line Fuel?

The problem with this is condensation. Even if it all don't freeze, the condensation will introduce enough water to do the same damage. Gelled fuel is gelled fuel. It's not fun either way. The best thing to do is add antigel at every fill up. You can't always trust winter blend fuel. Rock

    High clutch pedal effort

When I fixed the clutch pedal on my 87, I ground off the pin on the pivot arm and punched it out. Welded a 3/8 bolt in the hole and used a steel 3/8 bushing that fit the eye perfectly. I was going crazy trying to bleed the clutch because it wasn't coming up all the way.bturns out I bled it right...

    High clutch pedal effort

X2 on that. For the record, a stock zf5 clutch should be almost as soft and easy as a car. If you have a south bend clutch, that's a little different. Take a good look see at the clutch fork, where the slave rod sits in. A few of my trucks had those joints wore through the other side...

Changing to electric fuel pump from mechanical for 6.9 IDI

This is the setup on my 6.9 I have since sold. Golden rod water separator meant for a transfer tank. It was complete overkill, but only 30 bucks. Very nice to service as well. May not be the prettiest, but that's not what I was going for. Rock

    Slightly cheaper Delvac?

All I can say is, never find yourself in spot where you have to spend 27 bucks for a gallon of rotella at advance auto. I hate that store Rock

Changing to electric fuel pump from mechanical for 6.9 IDI

I've run holley reds on my IDI and have no complaints at all. Excellent pumps. I've heard that the duralift pumps used to be great but lately quality hasn't been the best, so at least make sure you have a warranty before installing it just in case. The Holley's reds don't require a regulator...

Anyone hotshot trucking in an IDI?

I know of a couple hotshot rigs with IDIs in them, but they are international s1654s like the one I used to have, not fords. May not be hotshot, but there sure are a lot of f series rollbacks, wreckers, dump trucks, and flatbeds around that are still earning they're keep everyday. Same...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I appreciate that! I'll definitely visit when I get the chance, and I'm sure I'll be spending some time in power stroke section of the forum anyway. It took a lot of thinking, but I'm very happy with this truck, and I know it will be better suited for my use......hey, at least I didn't buy a...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Still have it, gonna cut it in half and make a dump trailer for work. I have to pull the motor yet, but I'll be selling my 3 spare motors cheap and timing meter that I never used once. Probably other stuff too. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

I think it's an early 99, but I haven't checked the build date to be sure, so that's only a guess Rock

    Air brakes on F350

All the big construction outfits around here have 550/5500 trucks setup with air trailer brakes so they can tow the same pintle hitch trailers they tow with air brake dump trucks. They run them all over on smaller jobs pulling a mini ex or ctl. Slick setup, not to mention pintle hitch trailers...

I went out to Gettysburg and finally picked me up a welder generator. It's a Lincoln 225 with a 16 hp Briggs and Stratton. Nice machine. I'm buying a military trailer from my uncle to setup as a service trailer with the welder on it. Rock

    4.56 gears???

I have a super duty Dana 80 5.13 rear sitting in the parts truck, but it's 10 lug, and for a cab and chassis truck. The frame is narrower than my pickup. It's an idea though. If I can find lug pattern adapters to have it the same pattern front and back. I would have to do some figuring on the...

    “The 6.9” project thread
