    6.9 7.3 oil consumption?

I don't have a dog in this fight anymore, however, when it comes to idling, a diesel is a diesel. I have never had or ran a diesel engine of any kind that didn't puff smoke awhile after idling anymore than 15-20 minutes. I don't get why they wouldn't if you don't have a high idle set. All that...

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

I got the 12 valve unloaded this morning, took way longer than it should have, lol It was sketchy but everything worked out. I'll be selling the dodge auto transmission cheap if anybody needs it. I'll be using a zf6 and adapter. I need to get the adapter before I can really do anything as far as...

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

Plus, I really dislike the electronics on the psd, which was honestly the main reason for considering any swap at all. I want a super duty with absolute bare minimum electrical and luxuries. It will more or less be a tractor with a license plate on it.. Rock

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

I know right! This was an extremely hard decision for me as stupid as that sounds. I've always been so dedicated to IH, and their motors, and now this, lol . However, I couldn't pass up this deal of a 12 valve, and I do like Cummins engines, just not dodges at all. So I figure, it's a good...

Farmer Rock's crew cab and 12 valve swap....

Alrighty, so here's what I had 99 1ton 4x4 7.3 6 speed c and chassis. Here is what I have now.... A chassis, lol This is my goal........ Yup, I know.....kind of shooting for the moon here, but I'll get er' done. This is the engine I just picked up tonight for it, I'll have to figure out an...

    Picked up my E99 zf6

Ok, update. First off, you guys won't like this at all but when a good deal comes my way, I change my plans.... again 130k original miles, 89 12 valve. I'm going to move this to the conversion section now. Rock

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

A lot of the old foreign direct injection diesel tractors used those intake fuel heaters. Fiat built machines especially, such as AC, oliver, long, same, and others. I actually prefer them over GPs, they work very well. I've only been around 2 950s, ( I distance myself from green paint, lol) and...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Almost looks like an old dodge bumper. The 88 6.9 I had, came with a dodge bumper, looked just like that, but chrome. Rock

1999 power stroke engine swap options.

I certainly don't underestimate the size of a dt466. But that's one of the reasons I want to do this. I realize a big ole dog house will be needed, and I'm gonna lift the body 3" for other reasons. My only real concern is the HVAC when all said and done. Everything else will mostly be...

1999 power stroke engine swap options.

.... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED,LOL seriously though, I've been putting some thought into this. I've been researching what little I can find on a 466 swap. I know it will be an undertaking, however, I have always thought it would be an amazing combination in a sd. From my point of view, there is a...

1999 power stroke engine swap options.

You really got me laughing on that last part,lol... I sold all my IDIs and parts because the truck it self wasn't heavy enough for my work. The IDIs did ok, but the zf5s and 3.55 gears didn't. I bought the psd, absolutely loved the truck, but the more I got into it, I realized it has way too...

1999 power stroke engine swap options.

So if you had to make a ball park guess, what do you figure that would set me back? I have to weigh out different engines, but the IDI seems like the most economical choice. Rock

1999 power stroke engine swap options.

Thanks, I wondered to the dark side for a while, lol. So, as much as I played with IDIs, I never actually improved the stock power levels like I always wanted to. I'm thinking around 250hp is a realistic goal? Let me ask this, if I find a factory turbo motor, is this achievable by just upgrading...

1999 power stroke engine swap options.

In case you're wondering, this is in the IDI section for a reason. Backstory - I bought this e99 7.3psd in April, really liked it and enjoyed the power. However, I have had a few electrical issues. I'm in the process of a cab swap, and I really dislike how over complicated this truck is as far...

That IDI of yours always catches my eye. Really is one of the cleanest trucks I've seen in person. Is Maine in rifle season yet? Rock

    Picked up my E99 zf6

So I've been thinking about this, and when I had first considered bolting them in, I couldn't help but think about how rigid those rivets are. I mean they are, iirc 1/2 and there are a lot of them all over. I honestly don't see how that would allow any frame flex in of itself. I can see the...

    Picked up my E99 zf6

I welded them in. I had thought about bolting, but i just welded those vertical channels in between the top and bottom flanges, thinking the frame should still flex with using only the flanges of the channel frame on the cross member. Let me know what you think about it, I am always open to...

    Picked up my E99 zf6

I welded up a new rear cross member for the truck. It's definitely heavier than stock. You can see the next cross member ahead of it is next to be replaced. I really like the way this one came together, so I'll make the next similar. The rest are fine besides those two, and thankfully there...

    Picked up my E99 zf6

I was really wanting to go with por 15, but the only reason I didn't was that I've been told by a few guys it has to be reapplied every few years. I don't know if that's true or not, but I ended up going with this ospho rust inhibitor that you can paint over. We'll see how it works. I'm just...

Why SDs have a wimpy alternator - long post from FTE

I installed an ambulance package alternator on my sd, 180 amp from Napa. Was maybe 10 bucks more than stock. Very interesting thread though, I never knew about that. Thanks for sharing this Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

What kind of plow is that? It looks kind of light for the truck. The 6.9 I used to have was a great plow truck, wish I still had it. Rock
