    Factory running boards poll

It looks like there is one brace missing, and the passenger side rear running board has a small crack. I should be able to take care of that pretty easily, but otherwise they are actually in pretty good shape. I will definitely look into the bumper cutouts. I will be pulling the bumper off...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I got the new vacuum pump in the 87', and it sure is a great feeling to have brakes again, lol. Rock

    Electric pump conversion question

I went with a napa 4 post constant duty solenoid. I paid $50 because napa always gives me a warranty, but you can easily find the same one for half the price on the interwebs. Rock

    Factory running boards poll

Don't worry, I hate auto hubs just as much as you. They will be getting swapped out soon. The worst part about them is not being able to use 4lo with the hubs unlocked to back a trailer on pavement. Huge drawback for me. Rock

    Factory running boards poll

Evening! My 93 has factory fiberglass running boards, that I really like but am worried about the rust. The only rust on the truck is from them, and I will be fixing that soon, but I am trying to figure if I should leave them off or put them back on and keep after the rust. I am on the fence...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I was starting out to drive over in the 87 yesterday, and look at some 40/20/40 centurion front seats for the crew cab. A few miles into the drive, I was approaching a steep downhill with a stop sign halfway down, when I tap the brakes before the down hill, I had nothing but a rock solid brake...

    Electric pump conversion question

I agree that the pumps don't draw much at all, and to your point, I only use a 5 amp fuse. I went with a solenoid because I wired in a fuse block that runs a couple other things along with the Holley red for "key on" accessories and wanted something a little heavier. Rock

    Electric pump conversion question

You really should use a relay or solenoid, just make sure it's constant duty rated. Rock

    Tow 12,600 with a 6.9 N/A ?

Whoever told you that was spreading crap... If 6.9s were never meant to be abused they wouldn't have been originally designed and installed in international medium duty trucks with a 26,000 gvw. I had one, and they are great trucks. I am not gonna lie, you need a lot of gears for that kind of...

    Lets play guess that sound!

There are 3 wires that connect on the IP. The one on the passenger side is the high idle. On the driver's side, the wire that is closer to the front of the truck is the fuel shutoff. The cold timing advance is on the driver's side as well, farthest towards the rear of the truck. To test the...

    Lets play guess that sound!

This is a stupid question, but you say the high idle isn't working, as you probably know there is also a cold timing advance.....is it only knocking for say 15-20 minutes until it warms up? Usually the timing advance would go off with the high idle, but if the high idle isn't on, you may not...

    Glow plugs

To add on what Bart mentioned, oil cooler is a possibility as well if we are talking about coolant in a cylinder, but there is an awful lack of information here to give you any real head way. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

Shrek is home Been a long day...just pulled in with the truck, and been on the road since 6am. So.... I spent 4 hours in the VA DMV to get temp tags, and once again they gave me the wrong info over the phone, so I ended up having to register the truck in VA, but will have to register it...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Momma cows with calves, imo are always the worst to herd. Especially when they can't see the gate! This i bringing back memories of chasing the soon to be family dairy cow. She was an 800lb jersey so not huge. She busted through a gate and ran a mile and a half down the road. When I got there...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I was using a Kubota rtv to herd cattle until the front differential went out. It really sucks on foot by yourself. I have used my 87 when necessary, but I prefer not to without a big grill guard. It's kinda of a toss up..... Do I want to get cow kicked, or sit by and watch it happen to my...

86 F350 cab and chassis 2wd man trans. turbo

I run 2 cycle oil in all my mechanical diesel engines. It restores the lubrication that ULS diesel lacks. You should notice it smooth out as well. 300-400k miles is pretty much the standard life expectancy, but it really depends on maintenance. Rock

86 F350 cab and chassis 2wd man trans. turbo

Like Bart mentioned, you will be fined for running off-road diesel if they check you out. They are very strict in rural areas as you would imagine, due to the usage of red diesel on farms. The state troopers come around to all the farms here every so often and stick the tanks of the farms...

    6.9 quit

It's definitely gonna be process of elimination either way, but I will suggest that you make sure the mechanic actually tests the lift pump even though it may look new. The IP will usually pump "some" fuel on it's own, but it's just not consistent, hence the reason for a separate lift pump. It's...

    6.9 quit

Did you check your lift pump? Make sure you are getting 4-6 psi at the Schrader valve. Just because it idled don't mean malarkey. It could just be stalling under load. Been there plenty of times . Rock

I usually use a 3/8 ratchet with both long (8"), and short (3") extensions to get the lovely top bolt. Rock

    Trailer Brake Controllers

I have the teknosha Voyager on my 87 like @snicklas showed. I like how they are nice, simple, and affordable. I ran mine off 2 breakers under the hood, and 10 gage wire to the trailer plug. Rock

Beagle pup 6.9 only had 137k when I sold it last winter. The dump truck 7.3 (rip) had 296k. 88 6.9 has 80k since rebuild, not sure how many before. 87 6.9 (baby blue) has just under 207,900 and counting. The 93 crew cab 7.3 I am picking up (Shrek) has 205k and counting. 85 6.9 spare motor has...
