    No fuel to the injectors.

How are you testing the pressure.on the lift pump? I am assuming you pulled the line off to see if it was pumping at all? Rock

    C6 and rear differential gearing

Both my 6.9 and 7.3 are zf5s with 3.55s gears. Great combination imo. Rock

    C6 and rear differential gearing

I believe your truck is 4x4, correct? If so, you have to change out the front end as well. You may be better of just swapping out to an overdrive trans and leaving the gears be. Rock

    Easy Fuel Additive system

This doesn't really answer the question, but I like to use the old containers for DEF that have the funnel on them and they work great. Rock

    6.9/7.3 turbo compatibility

I am not real sure what the question is. If you're asking if a 6.9 will bolt in place of a 7.3, yes it will. As far as the turbo, they all interchange between 6.9 and 7.3 IDIs, but you need either an automatic or manual transmission specific turbo depending on your truck. There are no block off...

    Electric pump conversion question

I usually end up pulling the whole fuel heater when installing an E pump. I usually cut the wire and use an end crimp with heat shrink to seal it up to good and tuck it away. This way the wire is still there if you ever find yourself needing it for something else. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

I didn't get real far, but I managed to pull the front clip off the CC to get ready for new fenders and core support repair Rock

    Zf6 swap?

Isn't the truck in question an f super duty? With the 5.13 gears you have now, it has a really low 1st and reverse. If you want better mpgs but still want more low end gearing for a heavy truck, I think 4.10 would be the ticket. I personally think 3.55s in that heavy of a truck is not going to...

    Electric pump conversion question

That is the fuel heater. I usually end up deleting them completely, and never noticed a difference in starting. Rock

I am wondering, do these gapless rings raise compression? That would explain them starting better. I have no experience with these gapless rings, so that's just a guess, but I am interested in these for future reference. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yup, all 32 lug nuts, and I completely agree. I would hate to see how many locks he has on his front door, lol Rock

    Tachometer questions

Yes, I wasn't very clear on that. I believe you are correct on the year as the two 1985 6.9s I have sitting in the garage have the hole for the tach. Rock

    Tachometer questions

I haven't tried it myself, but I would think any tach that is driven off the alternator can be simply hooked up to the sender unit as long as 12+ and 12- are hooked in. I would imagine any tach that is not cable driven would work. That being said, the most simple way to do this is just an...

    Oil leak

I am gonna bet it's your rear main seal. They are really touchy, and it probably didn't seal correctly. If the truck is a stick, pull the clutch inspection cover, and take a look for oil in the bell housing. In this case, your clutch would be slipping as well. Rock

    Tachometer questions

He can still add one. The early 6.9 just have a bolt plugging the whole on the timing gear cover. Just toss the sender in and run it to whatever tach you get. Shouldn't be hard at all. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

I agree, I like the steel wheels on the crew cab, that's why I put the aluminum rims on the single cab. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

There's a bit more to it. These were 7 point tapered nuts, recessed flush with the rim wall, and way over tightened, and stripped out from somebody else trying to beat sockets on them. Not easy at all. I threw all those crappy lug nuts out, and have a new set coming tomorrow morning. BTW, you...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Yup, I didn't like the idea of fooling with the gearing on the crew cab. If it had 4.10s, it may be ok, but I like the gearing the way it is. Another factor was weight rating on the rims. I don't know what the rating is on these aluminum rims, but I am sure it's quite a bit less than the steel...

Sticky fuel shutoff solenoid in IP?

Maybe I misunderstood (very possible, lol),but are you running a jumper wire to the fuel shutoff solenoid, or is it still plugged in to the harness? I ask, because it may be a wiring problem. As for metering valves, like was already mentioned, be very sure you reinstall correctly. Some atf...

So what did you do with your truck today?

So I spent all yesterday morning in a junkyard trying out how to remove 32 security lug nuts that nobody has a socket for including the yard. It took 4 guys, a loader, and 3 hours. I couldn't believe anybody would put security lug nuts on every single lug! Anyhow, these are 12.50x35s on 17"...

Complete 7.3 idi with turbo. What's it worth?

IMHO, that motor will sell for a little over the value of the factory turbo kit. So I'd figure $1k Rock
