So what did you do with your truck today?

On my way to work this morning with the crew cab, I was headed up a hill when it hit wide open throttle. At that point I knew air intrusion was the culprit and I'd be lucky to make it home later. I went to start it around lunch time to run into town, and it wouldn't fire, just cranking. I bled...

    Lift pump mechanical or electrical?

Lol, I will remember that. Honestly, driving around empty I imagine that will be more than enough for me. As long as it wakes the truck up a bit when towing I will be happy. Thanks Rock

    Lift pump mechanical or electrical?

I'm not gonna go crazy since this is now my daily work truck. I am at the very least going to go with an open downpipe, and turn up the fuel. I would probably be happy with the stock boost levels, so I'm gonna stay conservative on this. I just wasn't sure what to expect, so I appreciate the...

    Lift pump mechanical or electrical?

I don't want to derail this thread, but what kind of boost should I expect with a factory turbo kit and open downpipe? I don't mind stepping up to a better pump if necessary. Thanks

    Lift pump mechanical or electrical?

I'll keep that in mind. Maybe I ought to just stay with the Holley's since I trust em'. Rock

    Lift pump mechanical or electrical?

I am an e pump fan.... However, like I have previously mentioned, I don't think mechanical or electric is better than the other. It's just opinion. I'll take either one, but when it's time for the mechanical pump to be replaced, I usually just convert it to an e pump for the benefits. As for...

    Air Intrusion Question

If you add an e pump, you should use a prefilter for the pump. That's usually the only reason anybody adds filters. Rock

    Air Intrusion Question

I paid $4.05 this morning, and it has been $4.15 for awhile. It's plain ridiculous. Rock

Looking for exhaust manifolds for 1988

It sounds like you need manifolds of an s1654. Look for an old international U-Haul truck, they should have the correct manifolds. There are a few on marketplace right now for parts. Rock

    Air Intrusion Question

Boy, I can't tell you how many times I've had to tell folks that. I know too many people who are always running around town on empty, drives me crazy. Rock

So what did you do with your truck today?

Looks great! I was wanting to put super duty seats like that in my CC, but everyone around here wants 1k for a ripped up set of 20 year old seats. I ended buying centurion seats, but I only wish they were vinyl or leather so they would clean up easy. Rock

    New fuel pump

I don't blame ya a bit. I am probably telling you something you are well aware of, but since you went through all this crap with 3 IPs in a year, you may want to look at getting a pump from one of the vendors @sjwelds posted. They are all on this forum and specialize in IDI pumps and...

    87' f250 6.9 zf5 4x4

It's for sale, but I have another truck, that I will have to fix up to replace this 87', so that's gonna be enough of a project right now for me to take a trade is what I meant I just put it up on Facebook marketplace today, and I would give you the link but I don't know how on my phone, lol Rock

    New fuel pump

That may be so, but that doesn't mean it is getting "constant" 12v. Like I said, it may have a short or something that kills the power randomly when running. I went through that on my 88, it's weird, but it was a short in the harness. It would always stall out after a few minutes but start right...

    87' f250 6.9 zf5 4x4

Hey, looks like a solid car. I have to think about it though. When I put the add up, I was looking for a 240d like yours, but recently I have been having second thoughts about another project if you know what I mean. I appreciate the offer, but I think I will have to pass under the...

    Air Intrusion Question

I bet you'll believe it when you see it......or perhaps when you don't see it.... Any diesel is extremely sensitive when the smallest amount of air enters the fuel system. That's the nature of a diesel engine. @asmith , I agree the return lines wouldn't make that much of an impact, or much at...

    New fuel pump

What symptoms made you change the IP in the first place? Didn't you go through two IPs last winter? Pull the top cover of the IP and make sure the metering valve isn't sticking at all. I had that happen once, and it would die after only 5 minutes of idling and turned out to be the metering valve...

86 6.9 idi no oil pressure at idle

The oil pressure "gauge" on my 6.9 always went dead at idle, so I raised the idle rpm to 850rpm just for the peace of mind until I got real gauges. Rock

    F250 idi cab swap

I will second that it is a real fun removing the cover plates because of the sealer. When I swapped the zf5 in my 87 from the parts truck, both cover plates required quite a bit of patience...along with a hammer and chisel. Rock

    Electric pump conversion question

I have personally never heard of any diesel engine flooding like a carbureted gasser. Cubey brings up an interesting point, but out of all the priming and cold starts on a mechanical engine, I have yet to see one flood, but that just my experience. Being that diesels are obviously compression...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I like the color as well, it looks darker in the light now, which I prefer, since I am a diehard international guy, so it's hard for me to paint my pickup John Deere green, lol, but I completely agree, I am not crazy for the dark green.here is some better pictures in the light, not quite as...
