1994 F350 idi..... with a gear vendor o/d and an exhaust brake

The kind of terrain makes a huge difference... I've had a few 2x4 trucks, and they're just fine pulling trailers around on the gravel or pavement, but the minute you go off-road with a trailer and have to make a tight turn or back up to a coral, it's all over. We have nothing but red clay dirt...

So what did you do with your truck today?

My trouble was it had already been crossed threaded by the POs mechanic.. I spent like 3 hours trying to hand thread both ends in different orders, they were just too screwed up.. I prefer the straight line anyhow. Rock

Conestoga Diesel (in PA) = Moose Diesel (in SC)?

I live in Pennsylvania as well, and can agree with all that... it's just plain ridiculous what goes on here... they're trying to turn this state into another Commiefornia and I can't stand it ... Nobody cares either... I really love the PA farmland, and country folks like me, but everything else...

So what did you do with your truck today?

I hate those things... I replaced that timing adapter and the #1 injector line with a line off a 6.9 I have sitting here....it was just the 7.3s that had them as far as I know, my 6.9s didn't... I just don't like how much pressure is put on the #1 injector line with that adapter..they always...

Yup, same here. Not much use for a 2wd truck on a farm.... Rock

    Pulled a 1987 out of a hole

The fsv on single cab trucks is so fun to replace. You'll want to at least drop the mid tank skid plate. Amazon has replacement fsv's for under $60. The rest of the low pressure fuel system is easy. Just be sure to replace whatever is left of the shower head pickups in the tanks.. Since your...

    DT360 powered trucks

I've seen dt360s in 30k gwv trucks and buses. I don't think you'd regularly want that setup though. If you're gonna stay under 26k, the dt360 is a good motor and can be turned up, however you'll still be happier with a dt466 if you're loaded good, and they are more common anyhow. All the dt360s...

    1989 S1600 x Uhaul truck 7.3 IDI

So.....when did I state differently... I've been around enough of these trucks to know something so obvious bud... I'd have to agree with IDIBronco, I've never seen an IDI with a triangle flanged IP.. Something is mixed up here. There is no difference in 6.9 or 7.3s as far as the mounting base...

    1989 S1600 x Uhaul truck 7.3 IDI

I had an international s1600 with a 6.9. The pump is exactly the same as my f250. No difference what so ever and both rotate....I don't see why yours would be different, but I suppose it's possible.. Rock

Help with hollow engine sound after bad injector

It sounds like you have a manual transmission, are the shifter boots secure/undamaged? Bad shifter boots will allow you to hear growling noise at around 1500 rpms..just a random thought... Also, could be the condition of your IP matched with new injectors advancing the timing... Rock

Why do you consider 4x4 a drawback? Also curious what it is you hate about the zf5 over other manual transmissions. Rock

1994 F350 idi..... with a gear vendor o/d and an exhaust brake

Nice rig, but heck of price ... I paid 5k for the same truck with 205k and a zf5. Then again, I don't think prices will ever come down.. Rock

    Tuner for IDI

I completely understand that... I drive my IDIs like a 2 stroke Detroit ( slam your fingers in the door and floor it), and I keep trying to kick the habit, because 10 mpg ain't no fun......... Then again, they get get worked between 4 farms, very hilly country, they idle a lot, the hubs are...

    “The 6.9” project thread

Well... Just fueled up this morning, now we're at 4.89 as well... It's getting to the point where I am seriously considering burning old motor oil mixed with diesel.. I just don't know how it's gonna affect things under load. Rock

    Clutch master question

Replace the slave too, unless you like bleeding clutch hydraulics for kicks. The air will end up in the slave and then your gonna have a heck of a time. Bench bleeding both is the way to go Rock

    T19 to zf5 swap

If the parts truck has a good flywheel, you might as well take that too. The zf5 used a dual mass flywheel, but lots of folks have swapped them for a single mass. It's a straight forward swap, just a real fun time getting it all lined up. You will probably have to modify the exhaust by the y...

    “The 6.9” project thread

Looks real good Laine. These fuel prices are plain unbelievable. Here in Pa we're at 4.35 a gallon..... I'm sick of this... It's getting hard to afford anything the way prices have gone up... It's only making the economy even worse... Rock

Still possible to get a 6.9/7.3 4x4 for under $10k?

If you're looking for a Srw CC 4x4, you'll be lucky to find a beat up truck for 5k. Single cabs and super cabs are much easier to find and can be had cheaper if any. I searched awhile before finding my Srw crew cab 4x4, and I had to go down to Virginia for it and paid 5k for it. More than I...

    pre fill oil filter?

So....all this malarkey about filling a filter with unfiltered oil....how does that work??? You are dumping 10 quarts of so called unfiltered oil in the crankcase and you are worrying about the 1 quart in the filter??? Learn me something, huh.. Rock

    Will it tow?

You shouldn't have any problems handling the load with your 1 ton, but it's gonna be slow if there are hills around. I tow a 16ft flatbed and an old stock trailer with my 87 6.9 zf5 f250. Every single road here in Pa has rolling hills, and to be perfectly honest, unless you hit a grade at speed...
