BTW I got another 1000 miles out of the clutch. Gave up when the farm help was driving it through a field towing a chipper. He was really pleasantly surprised when I didn't chew his ass for it.
Started on a hill once and ended up just dumping the clutch then feathering the gas pedal till I could get the clutch to catch.
I had wanted to use my 250. It has 3.55's and I was going to tow in low range, but the trailer has the axles waaaay far to the rear so it had more than a ton of tongue...
You guys from california crack me up. HAY! I requested a police escort since I had not tags or brakes or lights or any of that stuff. Chief is a friend so he sent a cruiser out without saying what for. Guy shows up and says "sure I will follow, but if it disintegrates in the middle of the...
What he said. I have two trucks with the 12 and they have always had better clutches than the 87.
The 87 would get hot at the drop of a hat when loaded.
Thanks for the confirmation on the flywheel. Now I need to track down someone to resurface it.
MY 87 with a t-19 needs a clutch. The roasted one I pulled yesterday is a made in Taiwan 11 inch disc.
Online I see lots of links for a 12 inch upgrade but its not clear whether I need a different flywheel.
The flywheel I removed seems like it could accommodate a 12 inch disc with the correct...
I did an oil change on the family van when I was 13. new filter on, oiled it up and fired it up and went to put it in the carport. When I got out there was a stream of oil following the van from where I had changed the oil.
My dad assumed I had cross threaded the filter. I felt like shit. When...
I just replaced the alternator on my 85 and noticed that the field wire is missing. The plug must have melted with some previous owner and they put in a new blade fitting on the stator wire and just cut the field wire at the alternator connector and at the other end of the pigtail near the...
I feel like I have seen you say that before. Are you living in North Dakota just to make sure you have maximum distance between you and all the cheap Cali and east coast IDI"S?;Poke
The bushings are available at most box part stores. I know oreillys carrys them. When the shaft is unblemished, the bushings hold it in place. Once it wears like it sounds like yours is doing, then the bushings don't hold it and you have to go with something like what laserjock posted to hold...
What part of the fitting is damaged? If the threads are still good and the seat is just galled some I have had luck putting teflon tape carefully around the flare on the pipe and putting it back together. I may get flamed for putting teflon tape in a brake system, but it works.
Check your speedometer for accuracy as well. As others have said, that is really terrible mileage with no leaks and no black smoke.
Someone could have changed the rear axle out or done a transmission swap with a different speedo gear and your odometer could be underreporting.
That won't help...
I use one off an international scout. It has a reservoir, but I sealed the fill hole and have the pump mounted below my barrel so it is just completely full all the time.
It has been working flawlessly for years that way.
No. the additional quart is in the system so the level in the pan is still 2 quarts low. The issue with low oil is pickup pump starvation and that is caused by low static levels in the pan. The extra quart in the filter doesn't affect that.
