    Project Big Red

I agree. My new fan clutch sounds like a tornado until it drops out. If you don't notice it, I don't think its working.

    Mid rpm miss under load

You still haven't said whether you replaced your filter or checked you fuel pressure. Those would be first in my mind.

D60 3.55s stock size tires or 4.10s 33 and up tires

Towing an RV i have thought about 3.73s. I bought a 32 foot flagstaff on the north Carolina coast and brought it home about 750 miles. The truck pulled great between 22 and 2400 RPMs which was too fast for a trailer that long in 5th and too slow for 4th. I ended up running 60-65 in fourth most...

D60 3.55s stock size tires or 4.10s 33 and up tires

If I ever have to get into my zf I will definitely grab the lower first gear out of the later model s47 transmissions. Otherwise I choose my gears to keep my rpms up. That means running 65 in fourth gear down the interstate. It tows great there, but falls flat on its face if I move to 5th. I...

D60 3.55s stock size tires or 4.10s 33 and up tires

I tow heavy (10-15K) pretty frequently with 33's and 3.55s. I do have a turbo. Only issue I have is getting a big load started on a hill, but the transfer case is always there if I need it. I rarely tow like that in 5th gear. Fourth with 3.55 is almost the exact same final drive as 4.10s in...

    Money Pit #2 Won't run.

It also will not start if the metering valve is stuck in the ip. I have had success with that having someone work the throttle while trying to start it and have someone else tap ip gently with hammer at the same time.

Cross country roadtrip - Oregon to Pennsylvania

I have seen the one off high speed belch of black on several diesels over the years. My only guess is that blowby oil condensate builds up somewhere and then gets sucked in the intake and burned. I came to this theory after hitting a series of bumps in my John Deere tractor one day and observing...

Sounds like it could be the glow plug controller location. Has it been converted to push button glow plugs?

First impression towing with 6.9 NA

I would go ahead and bump the timing a dime's width and see if you notice a difference. Your mileage and power sound down to me.

    What size tire y'all running

i am running 285s on stock suspension. The PO put extra washers on the front bumper bolts to move it out about 1/2 inch. Best I can tell its not needed with the tires, but I have never tried to remove them.

First MB post, slid in here from Ford 7.3NA

Make sure you adjust the valves on it before condemning it to the slow lane. They are never fast, but a valve adjustment can make a noticeable performance boost.

    Extended Cab On Standard Frame?

There was a teenager on here several years ago that did it with lots of pictures. I think he had to notch the back of the cab where the frame came up for the bed...........I'll try to remember his name and search.

    which is best

I think the pump is governed at a lower RPM on the bus motor. All other things being equal, the f350 motor will be an easier swap.

Might have found my second idi

I think that is 3.73. Seems like my 4.10s run higher than that.

slow throttle response and stalls when return to idle

You don't have to delete the manual pump as long as the electric one is downstream of the manual one. They work in tandem well, but if the manual one fails and the electric one is in front of it, the electric one could pump diesel into your crankcase. As long as the electric one comes after the...

Is water in fuel common any more?

Notice the locations of the respondents. Never happens in Cali, but problems where there is big temp swings and humidity. That is what causes it mostly. In Tn you should only store a vehicle with a full tank. When empty the air takes on the humidity on warm days and then condenses when it...

Open to offers too. At 1500 that would be a great deal assuming the truck is not rotten.

Any body in Oregon know about this truck?

Its at $8100 with 22 hours to go. That is steeeeeeeep in my book for a c-6 truck. I don't care how good it looks.
