EBay injectors
I bought a reman IP from them last summer. It was a Sherwin-Williams overhaul. Cleaned up to look nice on the outside. Rust on the inside. After wasting 4hrs installing it into a van, it didn't work. Called Pensacola. They said to remove the FSS cover and jiggle the shut-off...- DOE-SST

How Much Diesel Kleen?
Just mixing with the diesel in your tank should not be much of a concern, your ratio can vary widely. I experimented with it on the plastic cup of the fuel pickup, inside the fuel tank. 100% dieselKleen started melting the plastic, but 50% was safe.- DOE-SST

Wrecking Yards West of the Rockies
It my be pretty tough to find parts for an 87 in Albuquerque. I'm not sure why, but many of the busy salvage yards around here, are letting a vehicle sit for 6 months, then sending it to the crusher. They send around 50 vehicles at a time, regardless of what is still left of the car...- DOE-SST

IP pump removal - van
I removed mine from the rear, it looked impossible to remove from the front. I also removed the front passenger seat so I could lay down and reach everything.- DOE-SST

I've done two IP changeouts on a van recently. I removed all injector lines but kept the TPS attached. It was easy to get out. Any mods to your engine area?- DOE-SST

An IDI in very remote areas, for critical jobs?
interesting suggestion. My van was used for nuclear weapons convoys, and had a comm system that could probably talk to the space shuttle. Everything is still intact, except the radios were pulled from the racks. I know nothing about SSB or ham radio. I guess I'd have to contact...- DOE-SST

WMO Filter Setup
Build your system vertically. Unless you are getting extremely clean raw WMO, I think those filters will clog pretty fast. I use gravity to send wmo through nestled drum filters, 200/100/75/50 microns, then send that oil, under pressure, through nestled 25/10/5/2 micron sock filters and...- DOE-SST

Glow plugs hot & 1/2 can of ether...
Friend of a friend wants help with his (new to him) truck. 6.9 IDI, wouldn't start at 20 degrees F. so, with the glow plugs hot, he kept spraying ether down the intake while his son kept cranking the engine until the battery died. He said it fired a few times, but wouldn't start...- DOE-SST

ZD9 WMO Fuel Heater
Aren't there federal regs against modifying fuel tanks, as well as giving your insurance company an easy out for denying a claim? Not trying to be a prick. I've thought about similar mods, but haven't researched the regs yet.- DOE-SST

The Unimog was sold at an auction in Santa Fe NM, last summer. It was in good mechanical condition. The Fire Dept had converted it into a mobile command post. I can't remember which municipality owned it though. I've since seen it once, in Albuquerque, NM. If I didn't already have a few...- DOE-SST

If that really sells for $15,000, I'll be amazed. Especially in this economy. I passed on a very similar, recently surplussed, Fire Dept Unimog BOV for $1500 at auction. The interior wasn't quite as polished though. I think you could build an identical vehicle for much less money...- DOE-SST
